High quality, good harvest windows and short distances - these are three arguments in favour of Morocco as a berry supplier.
The Import Promotion Desk (IPD), the import promotion initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, is supporting producers from Morocco at this year's Fruit Attraction. They will bring strawberries, blueberries and raspberries to the fair. Before the Moroccan companies were included into the IPD programme, IPD experts carefully evaluated them to see if they could meet the quality, quantity, logistics and reliability requirements of European importers.
The berry producers at the IPD booth are mainly from the northwest of Morocco. In view of the climatic conditions, the region is well suited for berry cultivation. The quality of the fruit meets European standards. And the region is also well connected to Europe in terms of logistics. The sensitive raspberries in particular benefit from the short transport routes.
In addition to quality and short distances, the Moroccan berries are of particular interest to European importers, because the berry harvest begins several weeks earlier in Morocco than in Europe. In this way, Moroccan berries optimally complement the European supply. As berries are in fashion all year round, these slightly shifted harvest windows – even if this is only a few weeks – are of great importance for the European offer.
Get to know the berries offer from Morocco at the IPD booth and use the opportunity of Fruit Attraction for personal talks with the medium-sized companies. They take care of the entire supply chain, from cultivation to processing and packaging to logistics. In this way, they can also respond to the special wishes of their customers.
