TopControl IWS 1500 Field Scale

The mobile field scale was developed especially for sensitive products such as strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, table grapes and other fresh produce that should be handled as little as possible after harvesting.

With the IWS 1500, harvesting, weighing and packing take place in one continuous process. Workers fill the product directly into retail trays and pack the trays into transport crates at the point of harvest. This reduces additional transport, repacking and repeated handling, helping to protect product quality and shorten the time before cooling.

A key feature is sequential tray weighing directly inside the crate. Empty trays are placed in the transport crate in advance and filled one after another. The IWS 1500 registers each individual tray and continuously shows how much product is still required to reach the defined target weight. Once one tray is correctly filled, the process continues with the next tray. There is no need to remove, repack or separately reweigh the trays.

The clear visual guidance helps workers avoid underweight and overfilling, while reducing giveaway, rework and product losses. At the same time, the guided process increases weighing accuracy and makes harvesting and packing more efficient.

Weighing approximately 5 kg, the robust IWS 1500 is easy to transport and suitable for flexible use in fields, tunnels and greenhouses. A power bank provides up to 30 hours of autonomous operation.

Through RFID, each worker can log in directly at the scale. When connected via Wi-Fi to TopControl’s FoodProcess software, the system digitally records batches, weights, rejects, working times, harvested quantities, accuracy and productivity. Producers therefore gain full transparency over the harvesting and packing process and can identify optimisation potential in real time.
