TOMRA unveils new 5S Blueberry grader
At Fruit Attraction 2026, TOMRA Food will present its breakthrough blueberry optical grader. From infeed through to discharge the TOMRA 5S Blueberry, sets a new benchmark in precision and performance, giving blueberry growers and packers precise control and will ensure maximum value is extracted from each and every blueberry.
Visitors can also experience live demonstrations of its LUCAi™ deep learning technology, this experience provides a real world look at how operators within apple, blueberry, cherry, citrus, kiwifruit, or stonefruit packhouses can benefit from deep learning.
A new standard in precision and blueberry packhouse performance
The 5S Blueberry – Spectrim with LUCAi™ has been designed to maximize the value of every blueberry. Each transfer point and mechanical contact has been optimized to reduce impacts, pressure, and drop heights, helping to preserve the fruit’s natural bloom, enhance visual appearance, and protect overall fruit integrity. By combining Spectrim with LUCAi™, growers and packers benefit from accurate dehydration detection, consistent grading results, and optimized throughput. “The new TOMRA 5S Blueberry represents a major step forward for the blueberry industry,” says Troy Cleaver, Senior Product Manager at TOMRA Food, emphasizing that the solution has been developed with a clear focus on the factors that truly matter to the market: fruit quality, grading precision, and operational control.
LUCAi™: Deep learning trained on real fruit defects
LUCAi™ deep learning technology, is trained on thousands of real images of fruit defects collected across multiple seasons, regions, and product segments. This enables the detection of subtle and traditionally difficult‑to‑identify defects, ensuring stable and consistent sorting performance even in the most challenging environments.
- Spectrim with LUCAi™ detects subtle defects in apples, blueberries, citrus, kiwifruit, and stone fruit, helping reduce labor needs, tighten quality control, cut waste, and increase premium‑grade pack‑
- InVision2 with LUCAi™ sets new benchmarks for cherry sorting and quality consistency by boosting profitability and providing operational consistency.
LUCAi™ provides clear defect classification, confidence levels, and severity scoring so operators can get the best value from every piece of fruit. Visitors can find out more about other TOMRA Food solutions for growers, packers and processors. These solutions help reduce reliance on manual sorting, improve quality control, minimize waste, and increase the share of premium‑grade products. TOMRA Food, together with its integration partner ICOEL, will be exhibiting in Hall 10, Stand D25.
