The company presents Carbon Neutral, the first verified range of co2e-neutral fertilisers, which will reduce up to 75% of the emissions generated by the crop.

TIMAC AGRO launches Carbon Neutral, the first verified range of CO2e neutral fertilisers, which will reduce up to 75% of the emissions generated by the crop. This is a new carbon neutral range of special solid fertilisers RHIZOVIT PROCESS, D-CODER TOP and SULFAMMO N-PRO, which have already sold more than 1.3 million tonnes to more than 28,000 customers since their launch.

Now, TIMAC AGRO adds to its current offer of these products a new Carbon Neutral line, designed in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 14067 Product Carbon Footprint and ISO 14068 Product Climate Neutrality Plan standards, with the verification of the accredited external entity EQA.

Reduction throughout the product life cycle

To achieve this zero carbon footprint range, TIMAC AGRO has activated CO2e emission reduction levers throughout the fertiliser life cycle, from raw material sourcing to emissions in the field.

In this way, mitigation measures are applied in upstream activities, with the purchase of low-carbon raw materials; in manufacturing, by using exclusively renewable energy sources; and in downstream activities, by applying proprietary technologies that reduce nitrous oxide emissions and increase nutrient efficiency. ‘This procedure allows us to address the decarbonisation of products in a comprehensive manner, achieving high percentages of reduction,’ the company says. Regarding the residual emissions that cannot be mitigated, they indicate that they will be compensated with high quality carbon credits. On the other hand, from a technical point of view, these solutions retain the same composition as TIMAC AGRO's solid fertilisers, thus maintaining ‘the same quality and productivity increases as always’, they point out.

Focused on agribusiness

"We are aware that agricultural production accounts for up to two thirds of CO2e emissions in the entire agribusiness value chain, and that fertilisation is one of the main sources of emissions. That is why we have developed this line of special fertilisers, which reduce up to 75% of emissions at this stage," the company says. ‘The aim is to offer the agricultural sector new solutions that get the most out of crops, minimising the carbon footprint and complying with decarbonisation commitments,’ they emphasise. And they detail three main benefits of the new range: ‘It reduces indirect carbon emissions from agribusiness, facilitates the production of food with a low carbon footprint and increases the quality and production of agricultural products’.

A milestone in the framework of the Armony 2030 Plan.

The launch of Carbon Neutral is the result of the company's commitment to sustainability, which is embodied in Plan Armony 2030. An ambitious plan with real and concrete measures with a 2030 objective that seeks to apply economic, environmental and social sustainability across the board to build a better sector for everyone: farmers, livestock farmers and industry.
