METOS STREMO: the plant's physiological voice
At Fruit Attraction, METOS is introducing METOS STREMO, a new generation of sensors capable of directly measuring external plant activity and converting physiological signals into actionable information for decision-making.
Unlike conventional technologies that focus on measuring environmental conditions or soil moisture, METOS STREMO directly measures the plant's physiological response using ultralight sensors attached to the plant itself. Powered by PI StremoClip technology, it continuously records transpiration and stomatal activity, providing precise data on the crop's water status and stress levels.
Real-time change detection
Stomatal activity is one of the most long-standing and reliable indicators of plant health. METOS STREMO detects these changes in real time, enabling faster and more accurate decision-making. This allows growers to anticipate water or heat stress, optimize irrigation and fertigation strategies, and improve water and fertilizer use efficiency.
By integrating with soil moisture probes, METOS STREMO allows for the correlation of substrate water availability with the crop's physiological response. While probes indicate how much water is available to the crop, stomatal activity sensors show how much water the plant is actually using. This combination enables informed decision-making, prevents unnecessary applications, and allows for intervention before yield and produce quality are compromised.
The solution is fully integrated into the FieldClimate platform and is compatible with leading agricultural management and automation systems, facilitating the incorporation of plant physiology into precision agriculture.
