Moroccan Tomatoes: a trusted and competitive supply for the Spanish Market. For decades, Moroccan tomatoes have held a special place on the shelves of Spanish markets and in the preferences of Spanish consumers.

From the early trade flows that began under the sign of proximity and complementarity, to the well-structured supply, Morocco Origin has become a trusted source valued for both its consistency and its quality.

This shared history between Morocco and Spain is more than a trade relationship, it is a Mediterranean success story. Many Spanish importers recall how Moroccan round tomatoes, renowned for their firmness, flavor, and freshness, became a staple during the winter months when local production was less abundant. Over time, this seasonal reliance evolved into a true partnership, built on professionalism, reliability, and mutual benefit.

Moroccan exporters offer a diverse and increasingly sophisticated range

What started with round tomatoes has since expanded. Today, Moroccan exporters offer a diverse and increasingly sophisticated range, from vine to cherry to specialty tomatoes, designed to meet the demands of Spanish retailers and consumers alike. Behind every shipment lies a network of experienced growers, agronomists, and quality experts working to ensure compliance with the highest European standards in safety, traceability, and sustainability, supported by MOROCCO FOODEX.

In recent years, Moroccan tomatoes have consolidated their position as a key product in the European fresh produce supply chain. Among Morocco’s export destinations within the European Union, Spain ranks third of the total export volume to the EU over the 2019–2020 to 2023–2024 period. The 2021–2022 campaign marked a turning point, with a significant increase in exports to Spain driven in large part by round tomato varieties, which remain the mainstay of Moroccan tomato exports. This growth demonstrated the responsiveness of Moroccan producers and exporters to rising European demand. In subsequent seasons, export volumes have seen some fluctuations, particularly in segmented varieties such as cherry and vine tomatoes, which tend to follow more volatile market trends. Nevertheless, round tomatoes have maintained a steady performance and continue to offer a strong commercial proposition.

Morocco’s tomato sector benefits from favorable agro-climatic conditions, modern production techniques, and a well-established export infrastructure, which together ensure a high-quality and competitive product. These advantages position the Kingdom of Morocco as a strategic and reliable partner for building the future of the fresh produce sector, offering the assurance of supply, the strength of experience, and the promise of continued excellence
