ILIP Innovates with Sustainable T2T R-PET® Packaging

ILIP is committed to developing packaging that preserves food quality while minimizing environmental impact. The company integrates high-performance packaging solutions with sustainability efforts, particularly through its T2T R-PET® (Tray-to-Tray Recycled PET) initiative.
This approach enables the recycling of post-consumer PET trays into new food trays, closing the loop within the ILPA Group’s (if which ILIP is a part) vertically integrated recycling system. Unlike conventional R-PET packaging made solely from bottles, ILIP incorporates recycled punnets and trays, enhancing circular economy practices.
Recycled baskets and trays
A standout innovation is Air Wave heat-sealable R-PET punnets designed to protect delicate fruits like berries, tomatoes, and cherries. Featuring a convex bottom, it cushions shocks and eliminates the need for additional plastic bubble pads. After use, they can be fully recycled in the R-PET stream.
Another breakthrough is ezy:split, a hybrid R-PET and cardboard punnet designed for premium fruits and vegetables. The cardboard backing reduces plastic content by 45% while allowing easy separation of materials for recycling.
ILIP's dedication to sustainability extends beyond products to its entire value chain. At the B21 exhibition stand in Hall 9, the company will showcase its commitment to circular economy principles through videos on T2T R-PET® technology. As one of the few European companies with vertically integrated R-PET recycling, ILIP continues to lead the way in producing new R-PET food trays from post-consumer packaging, reinforcing its role as a sustainability pioneer.
