The company was founded in 1861 in the small town of Damme in Lower Saxony and has been the headquarters of the GRIMME Group ever since. Today more than 3 300 employees work at 38 locations worldwide for the group of companies, which consists of SPUDNIK (USA), ASA-LIFT (Denmark), INTERNORM (Damme), RICON (Rieste), Schmiede. One (Düsseldorf) and GRIMME Landmaschinenfabrik.

Over the years, the company developed into the complete supplier for potato, beet and vegetable technology. The well-known red machines work in over 120 countries worldwide. Own sales and service agencies in Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and the USA look after the customers in these countries. GRIMME also has agencies in Germany, in Uelzen and Langquaid. Furthermore, GRIMME founded SeedForward in cooperation with SHAKTIMAN from India.

The GRIMME machines are manufactured at the main plant in Damme, with the exception of the self-propelled harvesters. Plant 2, where all GRIMME self-propelled machines are built, was established in 2012 in Niedersachsenpark in Rieste, 12 kilometres away. Machines customised for the local market are built at the plant in China (Tianjin).

Modern logistic centre

Also located at the headquarter is the metal sheet processing (laser cutting and bending), shaft production, painting as well as the pre-assembling and final assembling. The modern logistic centre is based on a fully automated high-bay warehouse-system, which supplies the assembly with all the required parts "just-in-time". On an area of 15 hectares there is also a research and development department, the enterprise administration and an own training centre located. In 2000 Grimme built up an exhibition center for presentation and training of machines, called TECHNICOM and expand its capacity in 2023.

GRIMME launches the largest investment program in the company's history. A new office building for 190 employees is built in Damme, production halls are extensively renovated and the Academy is expanded. A used machine center, logistics hall, dispatch center and a large assembly plant for trailed harvesting technology are built in Niedersachspark. The existing test track is extended by 250 meters to over 1,000 meters.
