In Hall 7, Stand 7A33, Enbox and Graphic Packaging International will jointly present the latest innovations in sustainable packaging, highlighting the Synergy heat-sealable cardboard tray, which combines efficiency, sustainability and full compatibility with existing heat-sealing lines.

To learn more about this collaboration, we spoke with José Luis Vázquez, CEO of Enbox, and Pierrick Van Hoorde, Director of International Sales at Graphic Packaging.

Q: Fruit Attraction is a key meeting point for the sector. What does it mean for you to participate together this year?

José Luis Vázquez (JL): For Enbox, it is the perfect opportunity to show our customers and partners that we remain committed to innovative solutions that respond to the current challenges of fruit and vegetable packaging. The collaboration with Graphic Packaging allows us to supply a tray that not only complies with the most demanding regulations, but also optimises processes and reduces costs.

Pierrick Van Hoorde (PVH): Fruit Attraction is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate how the collaboration between Enbox and Graphic Packaging translates into tangible solutions. With our cardboard tray, we want to go beyond words and show producers, distributors and retailers that there is already a viable and competitive alternative to plastic, capable of responding to market and consumer demands.

Q: What makes the Synergy tray so relevant to the market right now?

JL: The new Synergy tray stands out for its full compatibility with current heat-sealing moulds and tools, without the need for additional investment. It is made from cardboard produced from certified wood fibre from renewable sources and can eliminate the use of plastic if a cellulose (PLA) heat-sealing film is used. It also offers excellent presentation at the point of sale.

PVH: I would add that independent tests carried out by Washington State University have shown that the side ventilation of this packaging extends the shelf life of fruit and vegetables. This means less food waste, something that is of increasing concern to the value chain and the end consumer.

Q: Sustainability and innovation seem to be the cornerstones of this launch. How do they manifest themselves in Synergy?

JL: For us, sustainability is much more than just complying with regulations. The Synergy tray is a packaging solution that respects the environment, but also improves our customers' operations. Committing to recyclable cardboard, reducing plastic and ensuring product protection are commitments that we at Enbox take very seriously.

PVH: And the innovation lies in its versatility. The cardboard trays are available in multiple sizes and depths, adapting to products as diverse as red berries, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and stone fruits. All this with a customisable design that enhances the brand image.

Q: What are your expectations for this edition of Fruit Attraction?

JL: We want visitors to have a complete experience: to see, touch and check for themselves the advantages of the Synergy tray. And, of course, to strengthen relationships with customers and establish new collaborations.

PVH: Our expectation is that this edition will mark a turning point in the adoption of more sustainable packaging. We are confident that our cardboard trays will be a key solution for many operators in the sector.

Q: Where can visitors find you?

JL: We will be in Hall 7, Stand 7A33, ready to showcase all the advantages of Synergy and other sustainable packaging solutions we have prepared. If you would like to learn more about them, we invite you to schedule an appointment with our team.
