Costa Rican Bananas: Real Sustainability from the Source
Costa Rican Bananas represents one of the world’s most renowned banana industries, with a strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, quality and social well-being.
At Fruit Attraction 2026, the Costa Rican Bananas stand will bring together Costa Rican banana companies and exporters, who will share with international buyers the quality, origin and story behind one of the country’s most important agricultural products.
Costa Rica has established itself as an international benchmark for sustainable production thanks to its robust national legislation, the implementation of international certifications, and ongoing investment in research, technical assistance and agricultural innovation. The sector generates more than 41,000 direct jobs and is one of the main drivers of economic and social development in the country’s Caribbean region.
The industry operates under strict sustainability standards and international certifications such as GlobalG.A.P., Rainforest Alliance, SMETA and Carbon Neutral, among others. In addition, banana farms undergo regular independent audits focused on environmental protection, workers’ well-being, responsible water use, biodiversity conservation and climate action.
Recycling 100% of Agricultural Plastics
Among the sector’s initiatives are the recycling of 100% of agricultural plastics, the protection of thousands of hectares of forest surrounding plantations, the donation of books to schools, and the construction of bridges and roads in local communities.
Collaboration and innovation are fundamental pillars of the sector. Through partnerships with international organizations, research centers and sustainability programmes, Costa Rica continues to strengthen its position as a reliable supplier of high-quality bananas to international markets.
At Fruit Attraction 2026, Stand 12F09, Costa Rican Bananas will showcase not only an outstanding fruit, but also the commitment of an entire industry to sustainable development, innovation and the future of responsible agriculture.
