BiooPack: Compostable packaging solutions
BiooPack by IFB will present its BiooPack Flow Wrap range at Fruit Attraction 2026, a range of plant-based compostable films and laminates developed for packaging fresh and minimally processed fruit and vegetables, where technical performance on the production line is a key factor.
BiooPack Flow Wrap materials are designed to be compostable in accordance with standard EN 13432, using combinations of regenerated cellulose, technical papers and biopolymers, formulated to offer stable performance on standard VFFS and HFFS lines in the sector. These structures allow conventional plastic laminates to be replaced whilst maintaining the efficiency of the production process.
BiooPack Flow Wrap offers good heat sealability
From a technical perspective, BiooPack Flow Wrap offers good heat sealability, both in longitudinal and transverse sealing, with operating ranges compatible with standard packaging conditions. The films exhibit adequate mechanical resistance to tensile and tear forces, facilitating feeding, package forming and subsequent logistics handling.
The material’s barrier properties are adjustable depending on the application, allowing the permeability to water vapour and gases to be configured according to the type of product, its respiration rate and the required shelf life.
This makes BiooPack Flow Wrap suitable for various categories of fruit and vegetables, as well as for fresh produce that requires protection without causing excessive condensation.
The range includes options with a transparent window made from cellulose or BoPLA, which provide visibility of the final product whilst remaining consistent with a sustainability message and avoiding combinations of non-compostable materials. These solutions are particularly suited to premium products and retail formats where presentation is an added value.
BiooPack by IFB supports producers and packers in the transition to compostable flow packs through technical advice, in-machine testing and industrial validation, adjusting the material structure where necessary to ensure optimal performance on every production line.
