Altinco Grinward, the new eco-friendly insecticide
The agrochemical company Altinco has presented Grinward®, an innovation in the phytosanitary sector: the first eco-friendly insecticide registered in the European Union made with only 20% paraffin oil.
This product acts on contact against key pests such as aphids, whiteflies, and psyllids in crops such as fruit trees, citrus fruits, vegetables, and berries, preventing the development of resistance.
Maximum efficacy with a minimum dose
Thanks to its optimized formulation, Grinward® offers maximum efficacy with a minimum dose (2 L/ha), which reduces packaging, facilitates handling, and lowers application costs. Its mechanism does not poison the insect, but immobilizes and suffocates it by creating a physical layer that also acts as a barrier to prevent new egg laying. This approach allows for effective and environmentally friendly control.
CEO Montserrat Rossell points out that “by not generating resistance, it guarantees long-lasting and sustainable protection.” For his part, CEO Joan Minguella notes that the development and registration of this product is a key milestone for the company, demonstrating its regulatory capacity and vision for the future in a context of increasingly stringent regulations in Europe.
Grinward® is the result of eight years of work and research, with more than 150 field trials in Spain and other countries. It is currently marketed in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and Greece, and Altinco anticipates significant growth driven by this launch, with a projection of reaching €5 million in exports by 2025.
