Once again this year, the Valle del Jerte Cooperative Association is taking part in Fruit Attraction, and with a great novelty: with its new food promotion programme, co-financed by the European Union. The programme, under the slogan ‘Naturally ceriZiosas, from the field to your table’, will last for 3 years, and will focus on the countries of Spain, Sweden and Finland, with the aim of promoting European cherries and picks, and specifically in one of the most important producing areas such as the Jerte Valley.
‘From the field to your table’
‘From the field to your table’ is a concept that genuinely illustrates the process we carry out with cherries and picota cherries, as the fruit is harvested, processed, packaged and shipped within 48 to 72 hours (depending on the destination country). Cherries that are picked one by one by hand through a traditional process, which are processed in facilities with the latest technology on the market, complying with various international quality controls, which are packaged in an infinite number of different formats according to the customer's needs, and which are sent to a lot of different countries.
In addition, we have the protection of a Protected Designation of Origin, Jerte Cherry and Jerte Picota, which is the seal that assures customers and consumers of optimum quality standards, and which this year has introduced three new varieties with stalks: Van, Lapins and Burlat. And all this taking into account the economic, environmental and social sustainability of the cherry and the European picota, with great importance in the latter thanks to the role played by rural women.
Various promotional activities will be carried out, both online and offline, such as point-of-sale promotions, tastings, showcookings, presence at major international trade fairs, press releases in specialised media, online advertising, and a major social media campaign with influencers that will leave no one indifferent.
