There is a growing interest in biostimulants in agriculture for their ability to improve crop productivity in a sustainable way.
On the other hand, it has been shown that silicon is a beneficial element for crops, providing greater resistance and protection against biotic and abiotic factors. Despite being one of the most abundant elements in the environment, it is usually found in forms that cannot be assimilated by the plant.
SilicaPower is a product designed to strengthen the cell wall and the epidermis of the leaves, providing abiotic benefits to the plant such as greater resistance to heat or water stress, increased flower/fruit production and longer post-harvest shelf life.
The innovation of Silicapower is that it presents silicon in its most assimilable and stable form, achieving greater efficiency in assimilation by the plant as it is immediate and less loss through leaching. The stability of the formulation also means that it is easy for the farmer to apply, thus saving costs and simplifying field work.
The efficacy of this product has been demonstrated by extensive research at Wageningen University & Research (WUR), demonstrating the benefits in various crops (tomato, potato, ornamental, aromatic...).
As an example, in a potato crop, the application of 3 litres of SilicaPower per hectare has been shown to strengthen the crop and increase resistance to stress. This biostimulant promotes root development and strengthens the epidermis of the stem and leaves. The effect of silicon on this crop meant that the tubers did not dry out as quickly, increasing productivity by 10%. This resulted in an increase in the number of tubers per hectare and a larger tuber size (WUR study).
In greenhouse tomato cultivation, plants treated with SilicaPower showed more photosynthetically efficient leaves and firmer fruits with longer shelf life. Laboratory analysis showed that these plants had 40% more silicon in their cell walls and 46% more calcium and 61% more iron in their sap, highlighting the product's effectiveness in strengthening plant structure against pathogen entry and improving nutrient uptake.
The importance of innovation in agriculture is key to achieving the best results. SilicaPower is a new tool for the farmer where productivity, sustainability and adaptability to new crop requirements are key.

Yelloway One (YW01) is a new generation of non-GMO, classically bred banana varieties that combine resistance to Fusarium Wilt of Banana (FWB), caused by Tropical Race 4 (TR4), and Black Leaf Streak Disease (BLSD) known as Black Sigatoka. TR4 and BLSD represent the biggest threats to the banana industry costing $100s millions each year in prevention activities.
