Celebrating with the winning initiatives

IFEMA’s Director of Quality and CSR, Santiago Quiroga, will open the programme. After, Francisco Rodríguez, expert consultant in tourism at Ideas for Change, will present the 2021 report and introduce the awards ceremony for the winning initiatives of the edition.

Afrikable, Fundación Codespa and Women in Travel CIC will receive the awards and present the positive impact of their projects to generate female employment, promote equity in rural tourism and train entrepreneurs and professionals in the sector.

The finalist projects of this FiturNext’s edition will also receive a special mention during the ceremony.

Debates on the role of women in the industry

FiturNext 2021 will also feature an extensive programme of dialogues and talks by experts in the tourism sector who will convey their commitment to female empowerment.

Especially noteworthy is the presence of Begoña Gómez, Director of the Extraordinary Chair of Competitive Social Transformation at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, and Paloma Real, General Director of Mastercard Spain, in a round table as part of the Mastercard space.

Meanwhile, academics Cristina Figueroa, Professor at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and author of the book Mujer y alta dirección en el sector turístico, and Daniela Moreno Alarcón, Researcher specialised in gender, tourism and sustainability, will participate in a conversation focused on tourism from a female perspective.

Susana Fernández, president of the Association for Executive Women in Tourism (ASEET), will also contribute with her vision on women’s role in tourism in a dialogue with leaders of the sector.

Likewise, there will be a debate on technology and women in the industry by founders of several start-ups that won the Global Start-up Competition for the Sustainable Development Goals organised a few months ago by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) with Susana Rubio, Director of Innovation at Mastercard Iberia.

A dialogue to decide the 2022 Challenge

The icing of the programme will be an open dialogue with the audience to jointly define the 2022 challenge with positive impact for the next edition of the FiturNext Observatory.
