MOMAD, the International Fashion, Textile, Footwear and Accessories Fair, organized by IFEMA MADRID from February 4 to 6, will confirm the recovery of important sectors such as footwear and fashion accessories, through the attendance of the main brands and firms that will participate in the event. In addition, the companies at MOMAD will be the best example of how the footwear and leather goods sector in Spain has once again made a comeback, recovering in activity and exports.

Among the complete list of  footwear and accessories brands that will attend the fair, we can highlight brands such as 4ccccees, Audley, Azarey, United Nude, Flower Mountain, Mireia Playà, Bohonomad, Calmas By Paz Mas , Calzados Victoria, Daniela Shoes, Etika Shoes, Exe Shoes, Fabrizio Chini, Francisco R. Pomares, Frp Agencies, Italfrance, Kayakstorm, La Strada, Laura Vita, Lucilia Vieira & Lima, Luzete Shoes, M.B.S., Mascaro, Pons Quintana, Pretty Ballerinas, Unum Eyewear, Hemper, Innbamboo The Original, Italmind, Ivan Basile, Kontessa, Mr. Boho, Mundosona, Rik&Me or Rossomenta Firenze.

Last year was a year of growth for the footwear sector, which has already started its recovery with the aim of reaching its pre-pandemic levels as soon as possible. According to Imanol Martinez, Marketing Director of FICE (Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries), production grew in 2021 and activity recovered more than half of the employment lost in 2020. Spanish footwear exports amounted, according to the latest available data, to €2.109 million during the first ten months of 2021, up 9.6% compared to the same period in 2020.

According to FICE, sales to most of our major markets grew in 2021: France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, the United States, Poland, China and the Netherlands. Growth in value was particularly significant in the United States, with almost 20%, and in China, with nearly 60%.

The advancement of leather goods

The world of accessories is also making progress. Fernando Gutiérrez Rexach, Secretary General of ASEFM, the Spanish Association of Leather Goods Manufacturers, notes that "in the third quarter of 2021, as a result of the good prospects of the pandemic, there was an increase in orders for the autumn/winter season, especially in foreign markets. However, these good prospects deteriorated from September and October due to the emergence of the new variant of the coronavirus.”

According to the association, we must be cautious about forecasts for 2022, but for the time being we are working with the hope that normality will be achieved as soon as possible this year. On the other hand, the sector is forecasting a certain improvement in exports and a slowdown in imports, since the domestic market continues to be at a standstill, a result of the severe crisis having a serious impact on domestic consumption.

On the other hand, the Secretary General of ASEFMA explains that "in the domestic market, the disappearance and closure of 30% or 40% of stores specializing in leather goods and accessories has moved consumers to large shopping centers, where leather goods and accessories consisting of brand, design and quality manufactured in Spain are being distributed."

All professionals attending the fair will have access to Lifestyle LIVEConnect. This is a digital community platform specialized in the sectors of decoration, gifts, jewelry, accessories, jewelry and fashion designed as a space for networking and promotion, where to generate contacts and business opportunities between the different sectors.

Professionals wishing to attend MOMAD can do so by obtaining their visitor's pass through the website.

Protocol for health safety at MOMAD

IFEMA MADRID has implemented a demanding health protocol to reinforce controls and maximize all security measures. In order to attend the Fairgrounds, all participants from countries that are members of the EU will be required to present the EU COVID Digital Certificate. And for participants from third countries, obtain the QR Spain Travel Health that allows entry into Spain.  Failing this, a negative test performed within 24 hours prior to arrival at the fair will be requested.

At the same time, the organization provides the attendees with PCR and antigen tests at the fairgrounds, in case they are necessary to access the fair or for transfers back to the place of origin.

From February 2 to 6, IFEMA MADRID will host the first major gathering of the year in Europe for decorations and gift, jewelry and watchmaking, costume jewelry and accessories along with the fashion and footwear sectors thanks to the celebration of the Intergift, Bisutex, Madridjoya and MOMAD fairs.
