LIBER 2025 reiterates its commitment to the buying and selling of rights by incorporating international publishers and literary agents into its programme of guest buyers and decision-makers

The 43rd edition of the International Book Fair, which will be held from 7 to 9 October at IFEMA MADRID, expands its international projection with the incorporation of a new guest programme aimed at the sale and purchase of literary rights.

Once again, LIBER consolidates its position as the main international meeting point for the Spanish publishing business. Organised by IFEMA MADRID together with the Federation of Spanish Publishing Trades (FGEE), the 43rd edition of the International Book Fair will bring together more than 500 international professionals from 7 to 9 October as part of its Priority Buyers and Decision-Makers programmes. A major new feature this year is the inclusion in the guest programme of international literary agents and publishers interested in the sale and purchase of rights.

The Buyers' Programme, promoted by the FGEE with the collaboration of the Spanish Economic and Commercial Offices and ICEX Spain Export and Investment, will facilitate the visit of booksellers, distributors, importers and institutional buyers from 63 countries. The selected buyers come mainly from Europe, with 28 European countries represented, and from Latin America, with 21 Latin American countries represented. Buyers from the United States and Canada, as well as other key markets such as Australia, China, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Japan, Morocco, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates are also participating.

The Priority Interest Decision-Makers Programme (PICE), held in collaboration with Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), will bring together librarians, heads of institutional book procurement departments publishers, teachers and other strategic profiles with decision-making and prescribing capacity for editorial content from 22 countries.

New impetus for publishing and literary rights

As a novelty, LIBER 2025 incorporates the Publishers and Literary Agents Programme, with the aim of expanding and strengthening the role of the fair as a space for the sale and purchase of publishing rights. The call is aimed at agents and publishers of international renown and prestige from 29 key countries, such as Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Brazil and the United States, among others.

With Chile as Guest of Honour, LIBER will hold an edition especially aimed at strengthening the internationalisation of the sector and professional exchange, with a full programme of conferences, sectoral meetings and cultural activities. In addition to this, the Agora space will hold a new forum within the hall where exhibitors will be able to present new products, services and experiences to the professional public.

LIBER 2025 is supported and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, ICEX Spanish Exports and Investments, the Regional Government of Madrid, the Town Hall of Madrid and Spanish Centre of Reprographic Rights (CEDRO). It is also supported by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and the Publishers’ Association of Madrid.
