The FITURNEXT Observatory, partnering once again in this edition with Aqualia—a benchmark brand in integrated water cycle management—has unveiled the agenda for its upcoming edition, which focuses on how tourism can contribute to more efficient and responsible water management. Taking place from January 21 to 23 as part of FITUR, FITURNEXT has organized a program featuring talks, roundtables, and dialogues with industry experts.

First confirmed speakers for the program

Many professionals are contributing to water sustainability through tourism, and FITURNEXT will bring together a number of them throughout the event programming. Notable speakers include Jaume Mata, Head of the Sustainable Tourism Area at the Visit Valencia Foundation; María Ángels Marí, President of the Aliança per l'Aigua; Beatriz García Moreno, R&D&I Project Manager for the Smart Tourist Destinations (DTI) network at Segittur; and Virginia Sarobe, Sustainability Director at Bioscore.

Each of their careers is defined by a commitment to fostering a tourism industry that is conscious and responsible towards both the planet and people. Specifically, Mata is one of the key figures behind the activities that led the Visit Valencia Foundation to become a winner of the FITURNEXT 2026 Challenge, while Marí is the President of the Aliança per l'Aigua, one of this year's finalist initiatives that has spent years advocating for water efficiency in the sector. Meanwhile, García Moreno is an expert in the Smart Tourist Destinations network, and Sarobe specializes in sustainability; at Bioscore, she has participated in projects developing tourism sustainability models for the hotel sector.

Initiatives with water sustainability at their core

As every year, the schedule of talks, debates, and presentations will be accompanied by one of the program’s highlights: the awards ceremony for the winners of the 2026 Challenge and the special mention of the finalists. The Visit Valencia Foundation, Barceló Regen, and Plastic Cup are this edition's winning projects, recognized for their contribution to water sustainability in the sector.
