FSMS 2024: More than 200 companies at the largest gathering on the environment, sustainability and the circular economy

THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND SUSTAINABILITY FORUM comprises TECMA, SRR, and the MADRID CITIES FORUM

More than 200 participating companies, 27,000 m2 of net exhibition space, 60 cities, more than 200 speakers and 30 sectoral associations are the key figures of the largest environmental, sustainability and circular economy meeting in southern Europe. The 5th ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY FORUM, FSMS, organised by IFEMA MADRID and held from 18 to 20 June 2024, expects to welcome more than 15,000 professional visitors.

FSMS, for which registration is already open on the event's webpage  Professional registration | TECMA (ifema.es)-, is formed of three highly specialist professional events: 21st International Urban Planning and Environment Fair, TECMA, which will display the latest technological innovations for waste management, the environment and urban planning in city spaces, and has registered a 28% in rise in business participation, of which 33% are new participants, as well as a 18% increase in the area of the exhibition.

It is also part of FSMS, the International Trade Fair for Recovery and Recycling, SRR, which enters its eighth edition as the best business centre around the circular economy, recovery and recycling, and which has also grown in exhibition space (39%), as well as in participation (14%) -including 29 new firms- of which 20% are foreign, resulting in an increase of 50% in the international representation of the event with respect to its last edition.

The 6th MADRID CITIES FORUM completes the group, with the special collaboration of the Madrid City Council, and which will offer through its meetings a top level analysis space, where cities, city councils, public institutions and companies from the sector will meet once again. More than 1,500 conference attendees will be present at the event backed by important sponsors: FCC Medio Ambiente and PRE ZERO (main sponsors); ecoembes -topic area-, and Metrovacesa and Crea Madrid Nuevo Norte (CREAMNN).

THE MADRID CITIES FORUM 2024, with a focus on planning, circularity and nature in urban settings, will display a broad view of the urban future, based on three main principles: the regenerative planning of cities and action plans of the Urban Agenda, the new management of green spaces, and the new paradigm of circular cities. In total, 32 topic areas will be addressed. In addition, more than 70 case studies of projects, plans and strategies already being developed in cities will be presented.

TECMA and SRR will also host an intense programme, in which experts will analyse the most concerning issues of the sector, creating a space for reflection alongside the trade exhibition.

Important meetings will be held, such as the 21st National Conference of Recovery and Recycling organised by the Spanish Federation of Recovery, FER - 19 and 20 June -, within SRR, in which more than 500 professionals will participate, and which will address issues such as generational change in family businesses, talent management in times of uncertainty, the recycling of the future (digitalisation, automation, union between companies and other aspects of the company 5.0), and the instability of the markets: weakness or opportunity?, among others.

Within the framework of TECMA, the Technical Association for Waste Management and the Environment, ATEGRUS, National Member of ISWA, will deliver the awards of the 19th edition of the Escobas de Plata®, Oro® y Platino® 2024 contest. The competition is aimed at municipalities, councils, associations of municipalities, companies providing services, engineering companies, consultancies, manufacturers of capital goods, waste management and urban cleaning facilities, universities, technological and training centres, etc. The competition is an attempt to value actions carried out to improve our environment and to promote sustainability, rewarding efforts aimed at stimulating technological and awareness-raising advances that serve to improve our quality of life and protect the environment.

In addition on Wednesday 19 June ATEGRUS will hold its conference on Standardisation 2024, "Sustainability reports. How do UNE standards help in ESG reporting?

Finally, the Foreign Trade Institute, ICEX, is organising a conference to highlight the internalisation of national projects and innovations.
