Organic aesthetics and sustainability redefine the home in a furniture sector that is growing and expanding internationally
The furniture sector is embracing natural materials, multifunctional spaces, and technology. Production value in Spain has reached €1.54 billion, with exports on the rise according to the latest data from the DBK Sector Observatory.
The decoration landscape for 2026 points toward an aesthetic sensitivity where natural materials, soft curves, and contemporary craftsmanship shape a new concept of home. Emotional design takes on greater importance in spaces seeking warmth and authenticity, while Spain’s furniture sector moves toward a scenario of moderate growth and greater international expansion, according to recent analyses from the DBK Sector Observatory (Informa) and industry bodies.
Natural materials, enveloping forms, and luminosity
Trends favor wood, natural stone, plant fibers, and organic textiles, creating warmer environments. Design moves away from straight lines in favor of curved volumes and rounded forms, present in furniture, mirrors, and architectural elements.
Lighting becomes a key artistic element, with oversized pieces and materials such as blown glass, alabaster, and metal. At the same time, homes integrate nature through large plants and green walls. Handcrafted items also return, with unique pieces and custom furniture. This revival of craftsmanship coexists with the renewed appreciation of decorative elements from past decades—such as marble, warm metals, and Art Deco–inspired geometries
Likewise, smart-home technology adopts a more discreet role, offering programmable lighting, furniture with built-in charging, climate control, and integrated audio without altering the space’s aesthetic. The color palette is filled with natural tones, from dusty terracottas to moss and sage greens.
Spain’s furniture sector shows signs of consolidation
Spain’s furniture sector continues to grow steadily. By September 2025, exports reached €2.324 billion, marking a 4.6% increase in the first nine months of the year, according to data from Madera Sostenible.
Meanwhile, the DBK Sector Observatory reports that the production value of home furniture in 2024 amounted to €1.54 billion, up 1% from the previous year, while retail sales reached €4.035 billion, with a 1.5% increase. Online sales continue expanding and now represent over 15% of the furniture, lighting, and home sector.
In this context of innovation, emotional design, and business growth, Intergift will once again serve as a key meeting point for the décor and furniture industry from February 4 to 7, 2026, at IFEMA MADRID.
