Rural Mobility Conference, an event of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, will discuss the challenges and best practices of rural mobility in Europe at Global Mobility Call.

On Wednesday, October 25, European and industry representatives will share experiences and solutions for collective transport in rural areas.

Rural Mobility Conference, organized by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, within the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, will present experiences, challenges and best practices in rural areas, where adequate collective transport solutions are often scarce, with high dependence on private vehicles.

The event will be held on October 25th at 10:00h in the EU Forum of Global Mobility Call at IFEMA MADRID and will be open to the public with the Congress Pass Experience. It will be attended by European and national representatives, as well as companies from the sector, who will share their experiences and vision to improve collective transport in rural areas.

The opening ceremony will be conducted by Magda Kopzynska, Director General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) of the European Commission, and María José Rallo, Secretary General for Transport and Mobility of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma). The event will be conducted by Olivia Freijo Lloyd.

From 10:20h to 11:10h the Rural Mobility Initiatives round table will be held, with the participation of Blathin McElligott, Rural Transport Programme Manager of the National Transport Authority of Ireland; Brendan Finn, Project Manager of SMARTA-NET; Ángeles Marín, Director of the Mobility Strategy Office of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma); and Matyas Szabo, Policy Officer of the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission (DG AGRI).

The table Good Practices and Challenges of Rural Mobility will be held from 11:10 to 12: 10h with the intervention of Stephanie Lelanz, from the Polytechnic University of Dresden; Antonio García Pastor, president of the UITP Bus Committee; Adrián Fernández Carrasco, CEO of the Fundación de los Ferrocarriles Españoles, Carlos Labraña, Project Director of the Associació de Municipis per la Mobilitat i el Transport Urbà; The table will be moderated by Rainer Uphoff, president of Alianza por la Movilidad Sostenible y la Innovación Rural (AMSIR).

To present business experiences, the Elevator Pitch session will be held from 12:30 to 13:20, with the participation of Florent Bannwarth, from Bla Bla Car; Kevin Orr, from Lift and Go; Pablo Díaz, from Dealerbest; James Lancaster, from Enterprise Holdings; José María Campos, from Celering; Franco Rosso, from Ioki; Bruno Espinar from Renfe; Ilaria Cutrupi, from Fairtiq; and Anthea Greco, from Via.

The day will be closed by Jaime Moreno García-Cano, Director General of Land Transport of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.
