On 17 February, IFEMA MADRID is travelling to Lisbon to present its goals for the Sustainable Mobility Conference and foster valuable alliances for June’s event in Madrid.

The presentation will be broadcast live in Spanish from 6 pm (Lisbon time).

The conference is making a port of call in the Portuguese capital following its launch in Madrid last July and its visits to COP26 in Glasgow, Paris in December and Expo Dubai in January. New destinations London, Berlin and Brussels are scheduled for its roadshow as of March.

IFEMA MADRID has set itself the target of extending the Global Mobility Call brand beyond Spain. Its aim is to consolidate a wide network of contacts and interactions with major international institutions, associations and corporations linked to the development of sustainable mobility, as well as ongoing projects that impact on the transformation of cities and rural environments, within the framework of the new social, economic and climatic challenges.

Global Mobility Call is a major project that will come to fruition between 14 and 16 June in Madrid, bringing together more than 7,000 international leaders in their respective sectors in search of knowledge, ideas and projects. Its aim is to foster investment in new projects at this key moment, helping usher in the extensive transformation required for economic and social recovery after the lengthy stagnation caused by the pandemic. It is also a key moment to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the European Union’s institutional support to the different Member States in the form of EU Next Generation recovery funds - Europe’s largest ever stimulus package - and the European Green Deal’s roadmap to make Europe the first carbon-neutral continent by 2050.

Global Mobility Call represents an unmissable event for leaders in sustainable mobility within Europe and their global partners - leaders who are fostering green recovery across the continent and looking to form new alliances so that they can export their vision, innovation and knowhow to the whole world. Alongside this, Global Mobility Call will also spotlight the business initiatives that are driving mobility transformation in each country and in each sector by endorsing innovation, decarbonisation and inclusion.

Portugal, a target market

This is why the presentation event is making a stop in Lisbon, at the Residence of the Spanish Ambassador to Portugal, where participants will share their visions, knowledge and experiences with a view to the development of sustainable mobility over the short and medium term. Portugal is establishing itself as a benchmark in the area of digitalisation, as shown by the success of major global events such as Web Summit. It is also forging ahead in mobility, with projects such as MOVELETUR, for sustainable tourism and electric mobility in natural spaces, the construction of the first electric charging network, and the RENER network smart cities project for sustainable mobility, integrating 46 cities with the aim of sharing knowhow in search of innovative solutions and reinventing urban spaces – a project with close ties to Spain.

The presentation, under the supervision of Eduardo López-Puertas, General Manager of IFEMA MADRID, and hosted by Ana Sofía Cardoso, presenter of CNN PT, will feature speeches from Marta Betanzos Roig, the Spanish Ambassador to Portugal, and the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas.

After the presentation, there will be a round table entitled ‘Sustainable mobility: kickstarting the green recovery’. The discussion will feature input from leaders and experts in the sector, including Sofia Tenreiro, energy investor and expert; António Pires Lima, CEO of Brisa; João Ricardo Moreira, Administrator of NOS; António Oliveira Martins, CEO of LeasePlan; Carlos Barbosa, President of the Automobile Club of Portugal; and Miguel Eiras Antunes, Smart Cities & Urban Transformation Global Leader, from Deloitte.

The event will be broadcast live in Spanish from 6 pm (Lisbon time).
