The pet care sector is an area with great potential for entrepreneurship, and start-ups play an important role in the development of new products and services to improve the quality of life of pets and strengthen the bond between humans and pets.

Supporting entrepreneurs in the pet sector is a way of promoting innovation, economic growth and social progress, which IBERZOO PROPET is continuously committed to.

Participating in a trade fair specialising in the pet care sector is an excellent way to increase the visibility of a start-up, connect with potential customers, investors and partners, learn from other professionals and generate direct sales.

For this reason, the 4th IBERZOO PROPET IMPULSE AWARD is being held this year, in accordance with the following rules.

The deadline for submitting applications is 11 February 2026.

The requirements for participation are as follows:

  1. Be a start-up as described in Law 28/2022, of 21 December, on the promotion of the start-up ecosystem, which refers to newly created companies or, if not newly created, companies that have been registered in the Commercial Register or the relevant Register of Cooperatives, with their registered office, head office or permanent establishment in Spain for no more than five years. (Article 5. Accreditation of start-up status).
  2. Target its products or services at the pet sector.
  3. Participate as an exhibitor in the Impulso Area of IBERZOO PROPET 2026.
  4. Submit the application to participate by the deadline of 11 February 2026, 17:00 hours.
  5. Participation involves sending a detailed proposal of the product or service for which you are competing for the award, which must be offered at the IMPULSO stand at the fair.

The personal details provided by participants when completing the registration form must be true and accurate. IFEMA MADRID shall not be held liable if this is not the case.

IFEMA MADRID employees, as well as companies collaborating with or contracted by IFEMA MADRID to carry out this promotion, their employees and immediate family members, are not eligible to participate in this competition.

Participation in this competition implies full acceptance of these Legal Terms and Conditions, and any statement to the contrary will result in the participant's exclusion and, as a consequence, IFEMA MADRID will be released from its obligation to said participant.

Participants must prove at the time of registration that they meet the above requirements. Proof shall be provided by submitting the relevant documentation with the application form.

The winners will be announced on 12 March 2026 during the LA TARDE DEL SECTOR event.

The purpose of these Legal Terms and Conditions is to regulate participation in the aforementioned Contest.

These Legal Terms and Conditions will be published on the official website of the fair, www.iberzoopropet.es, and will be notified by email to exhibitors in the Impulso area of Iberzoo Propet 2026.

The winners of this competition will be chosen based on the evaluation of their proposals by a jury, which will be made up of a committee of experts comprising members of AMVAC (Madrid Association of Companion Animal Veterinarians) and AEDPAC (Spanish Association of the Companion Animal Industry and Trade) who belong to the organising committee of the IBERZOO PROPET 2026 fair, which will select the winner(s) of the prize.

The proposals submitted will be evaluated once the jury has verified that they meet the requirements for participation in this competition. If the requirements for participation have not been met, the proposals will not be evaluated.

In this regard, all participants in the Competition consent to the use of their personal data for the purpose of carrying out this competition and, where applicable, the disclosure of their name and surname on the social networks of IBERZOO PROPET 2026 if they are awarded the prize. The personal data of the participants will be processed in accordance with condition nine (9) on data protection in these legal terms and conditions.

The evaluation criteria for accepted proposals will be as follows:

  1. Originality and relevance of the proposal
  2. Technical and economic feasibility
  3. Growth potential and scalability
  4. Quality of the presentation
  5. Innovation and novelty
  6. Sustainability
  7. Contribution to animal welfare

Special aspects to be taken into account:

Innovation and novelty are key factors in the success of a start-up, as they allow it to differentiate itself from the competition and attract investors and potential customers, and will therefore be considered important aspects in the evaluation of the proposals submitted.

Therefore, special consideration will be given to the ability to develop a proposal that adds value to the pet market, whether through a novel product or service or a solution that provides an original solution to an existing problem in the sector, for example by using cutting-edge technology or applying a disruptive approach in a traditional area of the sector.

Sustainability is a relevant factor in the evaluation of the proposals submitted, assessing the ability to develop a proposal that takes into account the environmental, social and economic impact of its activity, and that seeks a balance between the profit obtained and the welfare of pets, customers and the community in general.

To assess the sustainability of a proposal, the jury will take into account aspects such as the use of environmentally friendly materials and processes, the generation of employment and local development, the contribution to improving the quality of life of pets and their integration into the community.

Animal welfare must be a priority when supporting entrepreneurs in the pet sector, and therefore special consideration will be given to the proposals submitted. The products and services developed must focus on the care and welfare of pets, ensuring that these products and services not only comply with animal welfare laws and regulations, but also clearly contribute to pets being treated appropriately and their needs being met correctly.

The jury, in accordance with the established criteria, will determine the winner, who will be notified as set out in the following section, and its decision will be final.

The prize for this competition consists of a free 16 m2 stand at the IBERZOO PROPET 2027 trade fair, as well as coverage on social media and communication from the trade fair.

It includes the following expenses or services:
