Fermín Subires: Airzone’s participation in C&R 2025 reinforced our strategy for innovation and growth
Airzone’s Director of the Iberian Market believes that “one of the most important issues for the future of the air-conditioning sector is the connectivity between the various systems that contribute to the comfort of indoor spaces”. He states that taking part in the latest edition of C&R “helped us to strengthen our relationships with customers and staff, and our strategy for innovation and growth within the sector”.
What was the purpose behind the creation of Airzone, and how has it evolved since then?
Airzone was founded almost 30 years ago with a clear aim: to promote the responsible use of air conditioning. Since then, we have evolved alongside the HVAC sector, exploring how control technologies can enhance the comfort and wellbeing provided by these systems, whilst improving their efficiency.
Our initial developments focused on adapting the operation of air-conditioning systems to the actual needs of each room, thereby avoiding unnecessary energy consumption and promoting a more efficient use of energy.
Today, with heat pumps playing an increasingly prominent role and the electrification of buildings, our aim goes beyond simply reducing consumption. It is no longer simply a matter of consuming less, but also of determining when it is most appropriate to do so, by adapting the operation of facilities to energy availability, electricity tariffs and the needs of the grid.
We are therefore working to integrate air conditioning, heating and ventilation into building management systems, automation platforms and new energy environments. In this way, the facilities can meet both users’ needs and the current challenges relating to energy, connectivity and cybersecurity. In this way, we are helping to drive the development of more efficient, smart and connected air conditioning systems, ready to meet the energy challenges of the future.
What does your product range offer, and what sort of solutions do you provide?
Our product catalogue reflects our mission and our contribution to the sector. Firstly, we specialise in thermal comfort management, using solutions that allow the temperature to be controlled independently in each zone and enable both individual units and multi-zone systems to be connected and integrated into the overall management of homes and buildings.
We also develop solutions to manage indoor air quality efficiently. To this end, we have devices that measure parameters such as CO₂ and airborne particles, ventilation control systems and air purification technologies based on ionisation. In addition to these solutions, there are energy metering devices, which provide details of the facilities’ electricity consumption and the information needed to manage energy more efficiently.
All this data and these features are brought together in Airzone Cloud, our management platform. From this platform, it is possible to manage thermal comfort, indoor air quality and energy consumption in an integrated manner, promoting a more efficient use of equipment as part of a single ecosystem. Furthermore, Airzone Cloud facilitates the integration of this data and these functions into the overall management of homes, buildings and electrical systems, connecting them to home automation platforms, BMS systems and other automation and energy management environments.
What role does connectivity between different systems play in the development of the air-conditioning sector?
I believe that one of the most important issues for the future of the sector is the connectivity between the various systems that contribute to the well-being of spaces. Air conditioning, heating and ventilation should not operate as separate systems, but as a single ecosystem capable of coordinating and responding collectively to the needs of each home or building.
This approach enables the integrated management of temperature, humidity, indoor air quality and energy consumption. Ventilation and air purification can be adapted to the operation of the air-conditioning system, whilst heating and cooling can be activated only where and when they are needed. This helps to avoid contradictory actions and unnecessary consumption, whilst promoting the comfort and well-being of users.
The next step is to connect this ecosystem to the overall management of the building or home, integrating it with home automation systems, BMS platforms and energy management systems. In this way, installations can make more efficient decisions, taking into account not only indoor conditions but also factors such as electricity tariffs, energy availability and grid requirements.
The future of the sector therefore lies in connected installations that function, first and foremost, as a coordinated ecosystem and which subsequently form part of a more intelligent, efficient and people-centred global management system.
What did Airzone’s participation in C&R 2025 mean for the company?
For Airzone, C&R is always an important event, as it allows us to connect with our customers, gain first-hand insight into their needs and discuss the development of our solutions with industry professionals. Our participation in C&R 2025 was particularly significant. On the one hand, it enabled us to consolidate our commitment to indoor air quality management. At the 2025 event, we presented the improvements incorporated based on the experience and feedback from installers, and we were able to assess the market’s response to our ventilation measurement, purification and control solutions.
This direct contact with professionals has helped us to strengthen our position in this field and to continue developing solutions tailored to the actual needs of the installations. We currently have more than 22,000 indoor air quality monitoring stations connected to our network.
Furthermore, C&R 2025 also provided the setting in which we previewed some of the new features of Airzone Cloud, which are now part of our management platform. Furthermore, it enabled us to communicate the evolution of our approach to the sector: moving from focusing solely on the efficiency of equipment to offering a more comprehensive approach to energy management.
All in all, our participation in the latest edition of C&R helped us to strengthen our relationships with clients and partners and to reinforce our strategy for innovation and growth within the sector.
