The president of AFEC highlights the 12% increase in the air-conditioning market

Francisco Perucho, President of AFEC, gave a positive assessment of 2021 at the Association’s most recent general assembly. He explained that it was a year of return to almost pre-pandemic levels of activity, and he highlighted the 12% increase in the overall air-conditioning market, despite the financial hardships due to the increase in energy prices and difficulties in the supply chains.

The General Assembly of the Association of Manufacturers of Air-Conditioning Equipment (AFEC) returned to its traditional format in A Coruña, bringing together representatives of companies in the HVAC sector at one of the most important events for that industry. During the assembly, the president, Francisco Perucho, gave a positive assessment of 2021, explaining that it was a year of return to almost pre-pandemic levels of activity, and highlighting the 12% increase in the overall air-conditioning market, despite the financial hardships due to the increase in energy prices and difficulties in the supply chains.

Then, Marta San Román, general manager, began her presentation with a recognition of the legacy of Luis Mena, Pilar Budí and all the others who formed part of the governance of AFEC in the past, and she reviewed the origins of the association 45 years ago, the corporate identity, mission, vision, values and objectives of AFEC, as well as the representation and value it contributes to the sector.

Cooperation

The assembly considered the relevant aspects which marked financial year 2021, such as the need for even greater cooperation with other organisations and entities, the main areas of action during the previous year, the most notable legislative initiatives, the priorities for 2022, the role of the media as great allies to AFEC, etc.

It also highlighted the main milestones of the working groups and their collaboration with the public administration, the heat pump promotion plan and its excellent results, the initiatives to support training, the European dimension of AFEC through EHPA and Eurovent, the importance of cooperation with UNE, the positive evolution of AFEC’s strategic plan, etc.
