Santiago de Chile, May 24, 2022.- The current state of the sector, its expectations and main challenges were analyzed at the launch of MOTORTEC CHILE, the first international spare parts and after-sales fair for the Automotive Industry in our country (the so-called aftermarket ), which will take place between October 6 and 8, 2022 at the Espacio Riesco Events and Conventions Center, where visiting professionals from Chile and Latin America will be able to see the innovation, knowledge and experience of more than 80 exhibiting companies.

Katherine Becker, manager of MOTORTEC CHILE, affirmed that this fair, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications and CAREP A.G., “will be the meeting point and commercial platform of the aftermarket sector in Chile for professional visitors, where there will be a space to learn about and share topics that are of professional and business interest”. She pointed out that “from here it is intended to support the professional training of its exponents.”

The launch event featured a dynamic discussion in which Rodrigo Pérez, vice president of CAREP A.G. (Chilean Chamber of Commerce for Automotive Parts and Accessories); Marco Soza de la Fuente, professor of the Mechanical area of INACAP; and Juan Claudio Castillo, business manager of Taller Rodriguez e hijos, from Rancagua, moderated by Ana Isabel Hidalgo, advisor to CAREP A.G.

Within the topics addressed, the exhibitors referred to the difficulties and opportunities they are going through in these times, and how the industry is taking charge of electromobility today, in addition to highlighting the necessary link between the academy and the field, Therefore, Motortec is an excellent opportunity for students who will thus be able to learn about the latest technologies, products and services of the aftermarket.

The category of spare parts, parts and accessories for the automotive fleet (aftermarket) represents for Chile a business volume of USD$1.2 billion per year and employs 150 thousand people, just over 1.5% of the country’s labor force.

This market is classified as strategic, since it moves an important part of the national economy and is the vital link in the logistics chain. Chile is one of the main buyers of spare parts in the world and today it must supply 87 brands with representation in the country and 4,900 car models.

It is also one of the most stable items in the face of international fluctuations, and even emerged strengthened from the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, finally being recognized by the health authority as an essential area in our country.

MOTORTEC CHILE has invited a group of experts from the sector from areas such as academia, unions and companies to be part of the Technical Advisory Committee, to develop different activities that will feed the exhibition with content. Among them are the International Congress: “Challenges for the Aftermarket Sector in Chile”, which will address issues such as the growth of the automotive fleet and its regulation, efficient inventory management and challenges in the formation of human capital for the sector.

A Technical Olympiad will also be held, in order to bring together professional mechanics and/or future mechanics, assembling teams to diagnose any fault that a vehicle may present, in order to receive the “MOTORTEC CHILE” award.

Likewise, there will be Technical-Commercial talks, so that the exhibitors participating in the fair can present their products and/or services to professional visitors.

Katherine Becker assured that MOTORTEC CHILE arrives at a very opportune moment, since the after-sales sector is very alive and automotive workshops are growing. “We will make activities of the utmost importance for the training of new professionals available to visitors, as well as experiential and inspiring themes for the workshops, promoting the development and evolution of this industry,” she concluded.

MOTORTEC CHILE is carried out under the reference of MOTORTEC MADRID, an event that has been held for 16 editions in Spain, as a meeting point for After Sales professionals. The fair that debuts this year is organized by the Espacio Riesco Convention Center and IFEMA, a Madrid Trade Fair Institution that is present in around thirty countries strategically spread across the five continents with the aim of carrying out commercial work, as well as support and advice to exhibitors and potential international clients.
