FER, SIGRAUTO and AEDRA Endorse the Upcoming Edition of the International Recovery and Recycling Trade Fair
The support of the sector’s leading associations drives an edition of SRR defined by growth and industry collaboration.
The International Recovery and Recycling Trade Fair, SRR, organised by IFEMA MADRID, will be held from 9 to 11 June 2026, strengthening its position as the premier professional gathering for the industry in Spain, thanks to the endorsement and active involvement of the main sectoral associations: FER, SIGRAUTO and AEDRA.
This robust associative support is reflected in the positive commercial trajectory of the fair, which has already reached 16,000 m² of exhibition space, marking a significant growth compared to the 2024 edition. This progress stems from both the addition of new exhibiting companies, which represent 45% of the total and account for 25% of the commercially available surface area, and an increase in the floor space contracted by returning participants.
SRR 2026 currently features 110 confirmed exhibitors, representing a 45% increase over the previous edition. Of these, 42 are participating for the first time, a figure that highlights the vitality of the sector and the growing interest in taking part in this landmark event. Furthermore, the presence of international exhibitors has grown by 20% compared to the last show.
FER, the backbone of the sectoral programme
The Spanish Federation of Recovery and Recycling (FER) will once again play a central role at SRR, spearheading some of the most significant events on the sector’s professional calendar. Among these, the 23rd National Recovery and Recycling Congress stands out, scheduled for Wednesday 10 June, alongside the Gala Dinner and the presentation of the FER “Mother Earth” and “A Lifetime Dedicated to Recovery” Awards.
FER will also hold its General Assembly on Thursday 11 June, a day on which the Board of Directors will conduct an institutional visit to the sponsors’ stands, further strengthening the bond between the association and the exhibiting companies.
SIGRAUTO and the future of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs)
For its part, SIGRAUTO will host the 11th National Meeting on the Management and Recycling of End-of-Life Vehicles on 9 June 2026, a meeting that is a cornerstone within the SRR framework and is vital for the automotive industry and the circular economy.
The gathering will address strategic issues such as the new European regulation on circularity requirements for vehicle design and the management of end-of-life vehicles, alongside vehicle fleet analysis and sector evolution outlooks, concluding with the presentation of the 5th edition of the SIGRAUTO Innovation in Recovery Awards. The session will feature participation from representatives of the European Commission, the Spanish administration and entities from across the entire ELV treatment value chain.
AEDRA, a Major Protagonist in the European Regulatory Debate
AEDRA, the Spanish Association of Automobile Scrapping and Recycling, will once again be a major protagonist at SRR. On the morning of 9 June, the entity will lead the SIGRAUTO Meeting, which will focus on the new European regulation regarding the environmental treatment and management of vehicles at the end of their useful life, a text that is critical for the future of the industry.
The event will feature representatives from public administrations and the primary associations involved, placing a spotlight on the essential role of Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs) and the transitional periods established for the implementation of the new management model. AEDRA highlights the sector’s readiness, and the expertise accumulated over 25 years of collaboration, which have positioned Spain as a European benchmark in the automotive circular economy.
An Expanded and Representative Sectoral Committee
In addition to the roles of FER, SIGRAUTO and AEDRA, SRR 2026 is supported by an expanded sectoral committee that reinforces the representative and cross-disciplinary nature of the fair. In this secondary level of associative support, key entities such as REPACAR, ANAREVI and ANARPLA participate, contributing insights from strategic areas such as paper and cardboard recovery, glass recycling and plastic valorisation.
The involvement of these associations enriches the fair’s global perspective, incorporating views on various waste streams and fostering dialogue between different links in the value chain, thereby solidifying SRR as a benchmark hub for knowledge exchange, regulatory analysis and the promotion of solutions aligned with the circular economy.
The Vital Role of Certification Bodies
SRR 2026 also strengthens the presence of certification bodies, which are fundamental actors in ensuring quality, traceability and regulatory compliance within recovery and recycling processes. AENOR, as a member of the Fair Committee, and ICDQ, as a participating certification entity, will provide their expertise in certification, verification and standardisation systems, aspects that are increasingly relevant in a landscape shaped by tightening regulations and a growing demand for transparency.
Their participation highlights the importance of certification as a key tool for building trust, promoting professionalisation within the sector, and supporting companies as they adapt to new European requirements for sustainability and the circular economy.
