Saborit International will show at SICUR 2020 the new drug test DrugWipe® 2S, that detects two types of narcotic substances: buprenorphine (Subutex® and Suboxone®) and methadone. Both of them, normally used as a treatment for drug addiction, are increasingly being sold on the black market to be consumed illegally. Read more

Although both methadone and buprenorphine are used medically as narcotics and pain-killers and, especially, as a progressive replacement product for drug addiction detoxification, in recent years their illegal consumption has been increasing, due to the ease with which these substances can be acquired on the black market.

For example, in 2016, 22 kg of illegal methadone and 2 kg of buprenorphine were seized on the black market; and recently at customs in the Hamburg port, buprenorphine tablets worth one million Euro were seized. Experts have confirmed increased consumption of these substances throughout Europe.

The DrugWipe® S test simultaneously detects multiple drug families, such as cannabis, opioids, cocaine, amphetamine and methamphetamines, benzodiazepines and ketamines. It is currently the test most widely used by the Guardia Civil at traffic controls to detect consumption of these substances by drivers. Its main advantages are the speed at which results are obtained (between 3 and 8 minutes, depending on the substance detected), the ease in obtaining a saliva sample (it is enough to simply lick it 3 times) and flexibility of use thanks to its small size.
