New materials multiply safety efficiency

Comprehensive security companies have started a race to incorporate the most efficient materials and tools into their products. Marc Pujantell, Head of Marketing and Communication for the company Transforma 21, says that Bergadana’s Detainee Kit provides the maximum comfort and security during detainee transfers.

The kit is made with thermal-moulded acrylic ABS material, which thanks to its technical features, provides great durability and resistance. “The detainee cell becomes a safer and isolated area, free from sharp edges to guarantee better safety during transfers”.

The top screen divides the detainee area from the driving area. It is made of plexiglass and reinforced with a metal structure, providing higher security. “Ergonomic seating provides the necessary comfort for those persons whose hands are cuffed behind them.

The various drainage channels distributed throughout the cell make it easier to clean and disinfect the area. And new technologies allow for full control of the kit's basic functions (door blocking, ventilation, lighting, belt block...) from the driving cabin”.

Artificial intelligence

Carlos Angeles, Director of Anyvision Iberia, explains that the arrival of artificial intelligence in the security industry is shaking up the way in which technology helps improve procedures, reduce response time and increase research efficiency. “We have managed for machines to learn to perform tedious and repetitive tasks, and this helps free people from that work to be able to focus on interpreting and drawing conclusions”.

All this intelligence, combined with consolidation in the use of biometric data to identify individuals, enables focusing on people’s safety, individualising procedures and adapting how employees, clients and suppliers are handled. “Specifically, advances in image processing currently allow facial recognition without any collaboration by the subject, allowing for searches for a certain individual, maintaining privacy for the rest of people that are in the pictures”.

Anti-reflective cameras

Jingjing Jiang Du, Marketing Manager for Dahua Iberia, says that Dahua’s IPC cameras have certain interior and exterior qualities that improve their operation. For example, a glass surface coated with an AF anti-reflection film to increase image transmission and clarity. “The exterior glass surface is coated with a nano-film, dust-proof and oil-repelling, that drastically reduces dust accumulation”. He also pointed out its optimised waterproofing, “that considerably increases the useful life of the product’s fog-proof effect”.

María Paloma de la Serna, Head of Marketing with Cerraduras ISEO Ibérica, points out that one of the company’s latest advances is the addition of the fingerprint reader to their electromechanical lock for armoured doors, x1R SMART. “A fingerprint is very safe and easy to use; it cannot be loaned out, stolen or forgotten, and it is practically impossible to copy”.

Doors that have an x1R SMART can be managed and opened with smartphones (iOS and Android), thanks to ISEO’s Argo application. It is free and allows for intuitive access management, without the need for additional software or internet connection. In addition to a smartphone and fingerprint reader, the x1R SMART can also be opened with RFID cards and fobs, PIN codes and with Apple Watch (Series 3 and Series 4).

Recycled materials

The new materials are also related to an increase in corporate social responsibility and social awareness. An example of this is El Corte Ingles Empresas’ commitment to sustainability, as it designs, manufactures and distributes professional garments and uniforms for companies and public administrations.

As they explain, “our procurement departments and commercial teams work to cover the needs of professionals and to develop the most suitable garments to protect users from the occupational hazards and workplace conditions of their jobs.  And we are also concerned about the environment, working to reduce the ecological footprint by recycling our garments”.
