The International Security Exhibition, which was inaugurated this morning by Carlos Novillo, Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Interior of the Community of Madrid, presents the offer of more than 650 exhibiting companies from 31 countries.

Four halls were dedicated to Fire and Emergency and Occupational Safety with live demonstrations and the exhibition of their most innovative products.

SICUR 2024, The International Security Exhibition by IFEMA MADRID, was inaugurated this morning by Carlos Novillo, Regional Minister for the Environment, Agriculture and the Interior of the Community of Madrid, at a ceremony which was also attended by Juan Arrizabalaga, general director of IFEMA MADRID, and María Valcarce, director of the Feria de Madrid. From 27 February to 1 March 2024 the event brings together professionals of the world of comprehensive security and presents more than 650 exhibiting companies from 31 countries.

The companies display their latest innovations and technological developments in the three main areas in which, as usual, SICUR’s exhibits are organised into. The Fire and Emergency Safety sector will showcase all the products and solutions for passive and active fire protection, as well as the world of firefighters and emergencies; Occupational Safety will appear with the latest updates in occupational risk prevention and new proposals for occupational health; and Security will present advances in electronic and physical security, as well as security services for the protection of assets and people.

Live demonstrations and presentation of the most innovative security products

In the Fire Safety and Emergencies section, SICUR will show, among other new products, a fire detection and vehicle stabilisation system for road rescues, a firefighting robot, a 'smoke house’ explaining how fire spreads in homes and how to act, demonstrations of TASER probes in a glassed-in area, boots with new materials and elements of protection, smoke sensors, portable fire extinguishing systems, etc.

In the Security section, key innovations in the use of artificial intelligence for the detection of danger will be presented, alongside high-performance, durable and robust smart cameras, virtual assistants, intruder detection and verification systems, and interoperable alarm, control and automation systems among other products.

The Occupational Safety section will also feature revolutionary innovations such as virucide gloves, a lab table which measures the resistance, breathability and absorption of personal protective equipment (PPE) materials, waterproof and seamless safety boots, footwear that facilitates impact absorption when walking, a respirable crystalline silica meter, an asbestos fibre detector, a containment system for working with pollutants and flammable materials, a ladder with a warning for the bottom step, and a fall arrest harness for work at height.

Workshops and exchange of knowledge and best practices

The great new addition to SICUR 2024 is the EXO CORNER section, where innovative exoskeleton projects will be unveiled in collaboration with the Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia (IBV), featuring a Speaker's Corner where experts will explain the use of these devices designed to increase a person's physical strength and endurance, and will look into issues such as training, user acceptance and ergonomics to ensure their effectiveness and successful adoption by the best experts in this field.

The commitment of the International Security Exhibition to provide quality content and facilitate the exchange of knowledge is enhanced by the SICUR FORUM which brings leading experts together to address the challenges and opportunities of comprehensive security, as well as SICUR CYBER, which analyses the challenges and impact of cybersecurity.

SICUR 2024 is also attended by law enforcement agencies and emergency responders. The National Police Force, Guardia Civil, Military Emergency Unit (UME), the Catalan and Basque Regional Police Forces (Mossos d’Esquadra and Ertzainza respectively), the Madrid Regional Security and 112 Emergency Agency and Municipal Police Force, SAMUR Civil Defence and the Madrid City Council Fire Brigade will all organise activities, workshops and demonstrations.
