IFEMA MADRID ORGANISES EXPODENTAL SCIENTIFIC CONGRESS 2021 WITH FULLY SUSTAINABLE CRITERIA
Se celebra del 24 al 26 de junio en IFEMA MADRID
Sustainability will play a fundamental role in the dental sector’s scientific congress from 24th to 26th June in Madrid. The Congress is being organised in partnership with specialists 4ForEverything, to produce this event covering more than 3000 sq m. 4ForEverything is designing the event with sustainable criteria to minimise its environmental impact, promote the circular economy and reduce its carbon footprint.
The fairs and events sector is no stranger to the objectives of the Sustainable Development Agenda set out by the UN in September 2015. Businesses working in this industry are increasingly committed to sustainability, the environment, and society, and 4foreverything is one of them. The Company began working closely with production companies to reduce their environmental impact and improve its social effects.
On this occasion, it is collaborating with IFEMA MADRID and is in charge of all aspects of the production of the Expondental Scientific Congress, which will be held at the Exhibition Centre from 24th to 26th June. The company specialises in the design, production and execution of events, fairs and congresses. It has devised a sustainability strategy for the production of Expondental Scientific Congress that includes a Sustainability Action Plan to maximise its commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals in the 2030 Agenda. The Plan will be audited and assessed by Eventsost, a company specialising in the certification of sustainable events.
The actions will be carried out during the production of the Congress and are based on financial and social criteria, reducing inequality and, above all, responsible production and consumption.
One of the basic features will be that we will use the Aluvision modular system throughout the congress and the exhibition area (more than 3000 sq m). Aluvision is fully sustainable and certified as a Sustainable Resource for events by Eventsost because it is reusable, making it even more circular. In this way, we aim to collaborate to promote the circular economy to avoid generating waste, consuming virgin materials, and encouraging recycling and reuse.
Other measures include recycled carpeting throughout the site, recycled canvas covering for the modular structures, printing all materials with latex inks, no waste generation and no toxic substances, and using electric forklifts for assembly.
To complement these actions and complete our intervention, we will offset the carbon footprint of the event’s production work. We will do this through the Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation Spain by planting twenty trees at a reforestation project in the Yucatan Peninsula. This action will be complemented by an environmental and climate education activity aimed at young people between 10 and 16 years of age to be carried out in Spain.
IFEMA MADRID, a Solid Commitment To Sustainability
These actions are part of Expondental Scientific Congress integration with IFEMA MADRID’s Sustainability Strategy through its Sustainability Plan. This Strategy covers all its business activity and all the events it organises at its Trade Fair Centre. In this way, the Congress represents a decisive step in its commitment to sustainability. As well as being a member of the United Nations Global Compact and the MITECO Circular Economy Pact, Ifema has the ISO 14001, ISO 20121 and ISO 50001 certifications and carries out other actions such as calculating its annual carbon footprint. It has been awarded the Reduzco (I Reduce) seal from Spain’s Ministry for Ecological Transition (scope 1 and 2). Its mobility, transport, and waste management policy is sustainability-aligned.
It has also implemented and certified an integrated management system based on compliance with international standards (ISO 9001). This system covers sustainable management of events, environmental management, energy efficiency, safety and quality of service, and promoting continuous improvement in all these areas.
