Top names in jewellery and watchmaking will receive their accolades during Madridjoya from 24 to 27 September at IFEMA MADRID.

The winners of the first edition of the Madridjoya Awards have been announced, recognising, with the support of Confederación de la Joyería de España, professionals and companies for their contribution to the development of jewellery and watchmaking in Spain. Isidoro Hernández, José Luis Joyerías, Gold&Roses and the Aguilar de Dios family have been recognised in the four categories of this edition, while professional Pedro José Pérez Fernández will receive the Madridjoya Award of Honour.

The winners will receive their awards during the 75th edition of Madridjoya, which will take place from 24 to 27 September, at IFEMA MADRID. The ceremony will take place as part of this event, which will bring together products from over 300 brands and companies from over 20 countries, as well as thousands of industry professionals. The awards will recognise professional careers, commercial excellence, the tradition of the craft, and innovation in products, processes, design and marketing.

The winners of the first Madridjoya Awards

The Award for Craftsmanship and Mastery of the Trade has been bestowed upon Isidoro Hernández, a designer and jeweller trained at the Escuela del Gremio de Joyeros y Plateros de Madrid (School of the Madrid Guild of Jewellers and Silversmiths), and in enamelling techniques at the Yanes Foundation. His career has earned him many national and international distinctions, including awards in Venice and Milan, two Tahitian Pearl Trophy International Awards, and the Antonio Negueruela Award for Coloured Gemstones.

José Luis Joyerías, meanwhile, will receive the Award for Commercial Excellence in Jewellery and Watchmaking. Founded in A Coruña in 1973, the company has over 110 shops in Spain, Mexico and Portugal. Its own collections feature natural diamonds, 18-carat gold, sterling silver and gemstones. Its commercial proposition is based on creativity, product quality, expert advice and close customer relationships.

The Award for Innovation in Products or Processes, Design and Marketing has been awarded to Gold&Roses, a company founded in 2014 by gemmologists and designers Sonia Ruiz and Hannah Rodríguez. The brand designs and produces its 18-carat gold jewellery collections in Spain. They are characterised by their versatility and many combination possibilities—a concept that has given rise to the company’s distinctive “jewellery engineering”. With a presence in Spain and markets including Portugal, Italy, Austria, Germany, Belgium and Denmark, Gold&Roses combines the Spanish jewellery-making tradition with a contemporary identity and a clear international outlook.

Finally, the Award for Professional Achievement in Jewellery and Watchmaking will go to the Aguilar de Dios family, which has been involved in the production of gold jewellery for four generations. The award recognises the continuity of a family business that has preserved its jewellery-making expertise and passed it down through the generations. José Aguilar de Dios Fernández, known as Pepín, and Rafael Aguilar de Dios Fernández, known as Rafalín, currently represent the company’s fourth generation, together with its current directors, Pepe Aguilar de Dios Ruiz, Raquel Aguilar de Dios Cabrera and Alejandro Aguilar de Dios Ruiz.
