The awards ceremony will bring together manufacturers, operators, institutions and international media at IFEMA MADRID on 23 September to recognize the vehicles that best combine innovation, operational efficiency and sustainability.

FIAA 2026, the 16th International Bus and Coach Trade Fair, organized by IFEMA MADRID from 22 to 24 September, will host the official Sustainable Bus Awards 2027 ceremony. On 23 September, the international bus and coach industry will gather in Madrid to discover the winners in the Urban, Intercity and Coach categories.

Established as one of the leading international awards in passenger road transport, the Sustainable Bus Awards highlight vehicles that best address the evolving needs of operators, fleet managers and transport authorities. An assessment focused on real-world operations

Unlike many industry awards that primarily focus on driving impressions, the Sustainable Bus Awards apply a comprehensive journalistic methodology developed specifically for commercial passenger transport vehicles. The jury assesses buses and coaches not as consumer products, but as professional assets designed to fulfil a specific mission throughout their service life: transporting passengers safely, efficiently and with the lowest possible environmental impact.

Each entry is evaluated against a broad set of criteria, including engineering concept, technological innovation, energy efficiency, accessibility, safety systems, digitalization, ease of maintenance, total cost of ownership (TCO), environmental impact and the overall value delivered to public transport operators. This approach enables the jury to assess how effectively each vehicle performs in real operating conditions and meets the demands of its intended role.

Madrid, a meeting point for the passenger transport industry

The winners will be announced on 23 September 2026 during the official ceremony at FIAA, in the presence of manufacturers, operators, institutions and international media representatives. The awards presentation will form part of an edition that will bring together more than 100 exhibiting companies at IFEMA MADRID, with electrification, digitalization, safety, energy efficiency and fleet management at the heart of industry discussions.

David Moneo, Director of FIAA 2026, said:

"FIAA's growing international reach, the participation of new companies and the presence of the entire industry value chain reinforce its position as a strategic platform for understanding market developments, unveiling innovations and creating business opportunities. Hosting the Sustainable Bus Awards 2027 further strengthens this role by showcasing the vehicles that best combine sustainability, efficiency, safety and technology.

FIAA also represents a highly valuable investment for companies. In just three days, it brings together customers, fleet operators and the wider professional ecosystem, creating networking and business opportunities on a scale that is difficult to achieve through other channels. Our goal is for the knowledge shared and the commercial opportunities generated at FIAA to translate into tangible decisions, investments and projects that help drive a more sustainable, connected, competitive and future-ready passenger transport sector."

FIAA 2026 will feature more than 110 exhibiting companies and is expected to record a 50% increase in international participation compared with the previous edition. Industry professionals interested in attending can register and purchase their visitor passes via the official FIAA website HERE
