From 22 to 30 March, ‘Vintage Town’ will provide visitors with a city of decades-gone-by in capsule format with workshops and talks.

ANTIK ALMONEDA, feria de antigüedades, galerías de arte y coleccionismo (Antiques, Art Galleries and Collectors trade fair), which will be held from 22 to 30 March in Hall 6 of IFEMA MADRID, will launch the latest edition of its iconic Time Capsule. Dubbed ‘Vintage Town’, this one-of-a-kind attraction is a blast from the past that plunges visitors into an Instagram-worthy city, where the streets still have telephone boxes, newsstands and churches, a video club renting VHS films and even a gaming area to play Tetris, with pinball machines and table football.

Like an exciting film set, this capsule-format city is a unique themed, exhibition and interactive attraction designed with the expertise of Agencia Creativa La Más Chula. It contains exclusive, certified collectors’ pieces courtesy of a selection of specialised firms such as The Vintage Company.

From the retro newsstand exhibiting vintage magazines, comic books, tacos and sweeties to the inside of an old-style house, the kitchen adorned with cake stands and cereal boxes, snacks and fizzy drinks from other decades, visitors to ANTIK ALMONEDA can travel down memory lane with technology like radio, cassette tapes and vinyl records.

The store in ‘Vintage Town’ is a paradise for pop culture collectors and fans, with a fabulous selection of original art and signed copies of comics, toys, dolls and vinyl records. What’s more, for the first time ever, the shop is offering a grading service where you can certify and encapsulate your collectors’ pieces operated by the specialised company Next Grading Universe.

Another of the hits will be the video club, ideal for reliving the experience of renting films and for discovering some of the great cinematographic treasures of past decades, along with the opportunity to play classic arcade games and some of the most legendary and exclusive video games of all time.

Workshops and talks at “The Vintage Stage Bar”

Another new idea introduced at this edition is the inclusion of workshops and talks led by renowned trade professionals and experts in vintage culture, offered free of charge to visitors. Prior registration is required.

Among other highlights, Buvle Fashion Club Madrid will provide a vintage garment customisation workshop, Botánica will give a creative collage course on art and recycling with vintage materials; Maria Ortega, International Project Manager at Peris Costumes, specialists in costume production and rental for all periods from 1856, will delight audiences with their stories of wardrobes for the cinema, television and theatre, while Santiago González will give a masterclass in ceramic restoration with bronze strips, a rare method which originated in the Bronze Age. The programme will be closed by journalist Anitta Ruiz.

Open Day 25 March

In conclusion, on Tuesday, 25 March, there will be a double celebration, when ANTIK ALMONEDA will offer free entry to anyone who wishes to attend. Adding to the excitement will be a very special guest, a journalist and television presenter specialising in fashion, music, and lifestyle, who will give a masterclass on 20th-century fashion, discussing all the trends and significant brands that defined each decade of the last century.

From 22 to 30 March, collectors, art lovers, and interior decoration fans will have the opportunity to find unique items from other eras ranging from Art Deco pieces and jewellery to books, rugs, paintings and sculptures. What’s more, on 20 March, ANTIK ALMONEDA will be open exclusively for trade professionals, who will have the first choice of the treasures on display.
