Motortec Chile 2026 concluded its successful fifth edition with more than 5,000 visitors and an awards ceremony honoring key figures in the automotive industry
The aftermarket trade show presented its traditional awards to the best in the industry, in addition to honoring the winners of the Technical Olympics and the “Show Off Your Gem” contest, the latter of which drew a large crowd.
This Saturday, the fifth edition of Motortec Chile 2026 came to a close at Espacio Riesco. Organized by FISA and IFEMA Madrid, the trade show attracted more than 5,000 visitors this year and brought together more than 1,000 represented brands, cementing its status as a key event for the national aftermarket industry.
Over the course of three days, attendees explored more than 12,000 square meters of exhibition space and over 150 exhibitor booths, where they learned about the sector’s latest innovations and participated in talks, contests, activations, and exhibitions.
“We are very proud of the positive results from this fifth edition of Motortec Chile. Over the course of three days, we brought together companies, professionals, technicians, students, and automotive enthusiasts in a space that fostered new connections, showcased the latest industry trends, and continued to strengthen the development of the aftermarket in our country,” said Carola Fuentes, general manager of FISA, part of GL events Chile.
The closing day featured an awards ceremony. On the main stage of the exhibition hall, the winners of the Technical Olympics, the “Show Off Your Gem” contest, and the Motortec Awards were honored, recognizing the leading figures in the automotive industry.
In this edition, the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Chilean driver Francisco “Chaleco” López, a three-time winner of the Dakar Rally and a seven-time podium finisher—across three different categories—in the world’s most demanding rally.
Likewise, the Breakout Athlete Award went to fellow motorcyclist Ruy Barbosa, who made his debut this year in the Dakar Rally. The junior enduro world champion was in the top ten of the overall standings when he was forced to withdraw with just three stages remaining.
Fran Muñoz and Mauricio Monroy, hosts of the radio program “Sonar de motores,” were also recognized in the Automotive Journalist category for their outstanding contribution to promoting the industry through the specialized press. Meanwhile, Argomedo Performance, led by Jorge Argomedo, received the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, while Professor Rodrigo Brito was awarded the Motortec Spirit Award for his commitment and work over the past few years with the trade show, particularly in the development of the Technical Olympics, organized in partnership with DUOC UC.
In this competition, the winners were Liceo Polivalente Cardenal Caro de Buin in the high school category and IP Chile in the technical institute category.
Meanwhile, in the first edition of the “Show Off Your Little Gem” contest, the winner was a 1994 Lada 2105, inspired by the movie *Cars*, which was chosen by the more than 1,000 people who voted for their favorite project.
