A complete success! The final figures for the 2026 Motortec Technical Olympics

The competition, organized in partnership with DUOC UC, has now reached its final number of registrants and shows significant growth compared to the 2025 edition.

There are just a couple of weeks left before Motortec Chile 2026 opens its doors to the public. Latin America’s most important automotive aftermarket event is all set for a new edition featuring a range of new offerings and activities for attendees.

Organized by FISA, part of the GL events group, and IFEMA Madrid, one of the main attractions will be the Technical Olympics, organized in partnership with DUOC UC, which year after year bring together various educational institutions focused on the world of automotive repair. Students from vocational schools and technical training colleges will bring their top representatives to Espacio Riesco to compete for recognition as the event’s best student.

This year’s figures are particularly positive and demonstrate the contest’s continued relevance and sustained growth. A total of 13 educational institutions, including high schools and vocational schools, will be present at the event. Of these, 8 are high schools and 5 are higher education institutions, with a total of 46 participating students.

Compared to the previous edition, a school from Puerto Montt—the city’s Salesian Institute—has joined the competition, giving it an even more nationwide scope. In addition, representatives from three new municipalities in the Metropolitan Region have joined: Recoleta, Buin, and Lo Espejo.

The growth of the Technical Olympics also reflects students’ increasing interest in specializing in a sector undergoing profound technological transformation. The advent of new technologies, vehicle electrification, and the digitization of diagnostic processes have raised the bar for future technicians, who see this competition as an opportunity to test their knowledge in real-world scenarios.

“At DUOC UC, we are very pleased to organize this edition of the Olympics. We have seen exponential growth compared to the first editions. We started with just four students. This motivates students in lower grades to strive for improvement so they can see if they are selected next year to represent their institution,” says Claudio Larenas, the Olympics coordinator for DUOC.

“This fosters healthy competition that helps improve students’ technical skills, which is crucial for their growth, both professionally and personally,” he adds.

In addition to testing technical skills, the competition helps strengthen the link between academia and the automotive industry. Many of the companies present at Motortec Chile use these events to get a close look at emerging talent and identify candidates with the potential to enter the job market.

The presence of participants from different regions of the country also confirms the initiative’s standing within technical and vocational education. What began as a complementary activity within the trade show has become one of the most anticipated events for students, teachers, and industry professionals.

It is worth noting that the Olympics will take place over the three days of the fair, from June 18 to 20, with sessions beginning around 10:30 a.m. and running until 6:00 p.m. These will be three days of intense competition during which a specialized jury will be tasked with determining the top winners of this edition.
