The ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism has published a new version of the Guide to Industrial, Commercial, Garage, Doors, Gates and Barriers, containing the CE Marking, installation and modification requirements. The document is presented as a benchmark for the industry, as it contains the European regulations, directives and harmonised standards that currently govern the CE marking of motorised and manual doors.

The technical committee of the National Federation of Door and Automated Device Manufacturers, Installers and Maintenance Staff (FIMPA) participated in the revision of the new version of the Guide to Doors (n.8), which replaces the previous one (v.7) from June 2017. The ministry also defines manufacturer conduct with this guide, stating their specific responsibilities, the tasks they are to perform, the documentation they are to issue and deliver to the purchaser and the marking they must place on the doors to sell them, making a special distinction between the manufacturer and the installer.

Thus, one of the main aspects refers to the modification of doors that are already installed, identifying when it is considered a substantial modification of an existing door and the procedure for its EC marking and compliance, as well as the data that must be included in the declaration of characteristics and the EU/CE compliance declaration.

The guide also contains a specific section for owners, with the aim to clarify the main verifications they should perform when acquiring the doors and to guarantee their maintenance, thus ensuring that all of the safety elements will always work properly.
