SMART DOORS 2022 attracts 10,715 professionals in an event with a strong focus on innovation

The event had a wide geographical scope, with 73% of the professionals visiting coming from outside Madrid, especially from Andalusia, Catalonia and Valencia.

International visitors accounted for 13.5% of the total, with the presence of professionals from 40 countries. The SMART DOORS Technical Seminars were also a great success, this year focusing on the importance of safety and energy efficiency in automatic doors.

The third SMART DOORS fair, organised by IFEMA MADRID from 15 to 18 November, concluded very successfully with a high level of professional attendance and a significant geographical coverage, at both national and international level, consolidating its position as a benchmark event for the door and automation sector.

The balance shows a 15% increase in the number of visitors compared to 2020, with the attendance of a total of 10,715 professionals. In addition, the volume of attendees from outside Madrid was particularly significant - 73% - mainly from Andalusia, Catalonia and Valencia.

SMART DOORS, which this year had an international scope for the first time, also achieved very good figures in terms of visits from professionals from abroad, which accounted for 13.5% of the total, with the attendance of professionals from 40 countries, including Portugal and Italy.

In terms of participation, SMART DOORS 22 brought together the proposals and innovations of 59 companies from 7 countries, which accounted for 19% of the international attendance. As a whole, the fair presented a cutting-edge programme, particularly focused on innovation in terms of technology, security, accessibility, connectivity and energy efficiency, as well as all aspects of architectural design and integration.

Another new feature of this edition was that it was held to coincide with VETECO, the Window, Façade and Solar Protection Show, within the framework of e Power&Building, one of the most comprehensive construction sector events in Europe, which this year attracted 85,000 professional visitors.

SMART DOORS Technical Seminars

The SMART DOORS Technical Seminars were also a great success, and this year they took place on the morning of 16 November in a double session that dealt with the key role of automatic doors in the energy efficiency of buildings, led by Miguel Pérez, CEO of Mequonic, and the Smart Doors Forum on safety in automatic doors in a round table format moderated by Juan Ramírez, Vice-president of FIMPA, with the participation of various professionals and officials from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and the Regional Government of Madrid, who addressed issues such as the casuistry of substantial modifications in motorised doors; the custody of door documentation; the automation of pedestrian doors, with a focus on swing doors; and market unity and surveillance plans.

SMART DOORS also has the sectoral backing of the National Federation of Automatic Door Manufacturers, Installers and Maintainers (FIMPA) and the Manual and Automatic Doors Business Association (AEPA), both of which are represented on the trade fair's Organising Committee.
