SIMO EDUCACION 2023: “Education in the era of Artificial Intelligence”
Organised by IFEMA MADRID in collaboration with EDUCACIÓN 3.0, SIMO EDUCACIÓN will take place from 14 to 16 November 2023 on the Recinto Ferial with the theme, “Education in the era of Artificial Intelligence: Exploring New Frontiers”.
Technology and innovation for the classroom and learning, e-sports, mental health and emotional education, Dual Vocational Training, and applied AI encourage creativity, motivation, and emotional well-being of students, as well as market opportunities and innovation in the sector.
The first meeting of the Organising Committee of SIMO EDUCACIÓN was held on 9 May, when the main contents of the upcoming edition of the International Technology and Innovation in Education were defined. Organised by IFEMA MADRID in collaboration with EDUCACIÓN 3.0, it will take place from 14 to 16 November in Hall 12 at the Recinto Ferial, with the theme “Education in the era of Artificial Intelligence: Exploring New Frontiers”.
It will be an exceptionally valuable event for highlighting and learning about present and future areas of progress and trends in which technology, innovation and education have an essential role in teaching activity and in advances made toward quality education. All these encourage creativity, motivation, and emotional well-being of students, as well as market opportunities and innovation in the sector. Moreover, everything is aligned with the UNESCO 2021 report (page 7), which refers to the transformation of technology and innovation in education systems coupled with the need for a commitment from all stakeholders, including governments, educators, learners, civil society, and the private sector.
In this context, SIMO EDUCACIÓN 2023 focuses on four pillars: technology and innovation for the classroom and learning, exploring its value in the classroom and to improve student performance; the potential and weight of e-sports in the education sector as a tool to motivate students and hone their skills; mental health and emotional education, aligned with the World Health Organisation, which is a subject of growing importance in education; and Dual Vocational Training, which a proven and effective method for preparing young people for the job market. Applied AI is included as a cross-cutting subject, a technology which is transforming education and providing options to customise learning to students’ individual needs (#AIED2022 programme UNESCO).
All these trends and technologies open up a huge market of business opportunities. In this regard, the educational technology (ed-tech) market will be worth 252 billion dollars by 2025, with an annual growth rate of 17%. Moreover, in 2020, investments in ed-tech startups reached a record figure of 16.1 billion dollars worldwide. According to the HolonIQ “2020 EdTechOutlook Report”, this is evidence of an upward trend in investment and uptake of technology in education, suggesting major market and development opportunities in the sector.
As usual, the offer at SIMO EDUCACIÓN includes the opportunity to learn more “good practices” in the Innovative Teaching Experiences Classrooms, which will highlight 14 teaching activities, all selected and recognised for their educational and technological innovation. The 11th Awards for Educational Innovation and Innovative Teaching Experiences will be handed out to their winners. The meeting will also host a programme of workshops, conferences, and practical classes on aspects of innovative education, as well as seminars for managers of schools and colleges, and the INSPIRA programme will feature a selection of motivational conferences to inspire teachers to embrace new methods and to empower teaching staff.
Moreover, among many other proposals, INNOVA will feature technological contributions developed in education by leading sector brands, the MAKERS space will bring students and teachers together to show them how to create knowledge with the “learn learning” methodology and different technological solutions like robots, programming kits and 3D printers, and the IMPULSO platform will showcase business projects, startups and nascent technology projects for education.
SIMO EDUCACION will continue to provide the LIVEConnect digital ecosystem to enable professional networking and to make it easy to arrange meetings with similar partners, offer exclusive content and activities and create business opportunities by extending the value networks of the fair year-round.
As always, the high point of the event will be the Homage to Teachers, a celebration that recognises innovative schools and colleges which has the added value of highlighting good practices in all areas of education.
