From 24 to 27 February, EXO CORNER will address the present and future of biomechanics, ergonomics and the practical application of occupational exoskeletons.

SICUR 2026, the International Security Exhibition taking place from 24 to 27 February at IFEMA MADRID, is hosting the second edition of EXO CORNER, a specialised area dedicated to the analysis, dissemination and debate surrounding the use of occupational exoskeletons across diverse production sectors.

This initiative, organised in collaboration with the Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia (IBV), will gather national and international companies and experts with extensive experience in ergonomics, Occupational Risk Prevention (ORP) and technological innovation, combining the exhibition with a high-value technical agenda.

The EXO CORNER conference programme will offer a rigorous and practical vision of the real-world impact of exoskeletons in the workplace, addressing both their operational benefits and the challenges associated with their implementation and acceptance in professional environments.

Scientific Evidence and Biomechanical Criteria

The Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia (IBV) will present the session ‘The effect of exoskeletons from a biomechanical perspective:  Which tasks are susceptible to exoskeleton integration in sectors such as construction, metalworking or hospitality?’, delivered by Mercedes Sanchís and Luis Ruiz. During this session, the IBV will unveil its latest studies in the field, presenting specific guidelines developed to assist sectors such as construction, metalworking and hospitality in incorporating these solutions effectively and safely.

Dismantling Myths about Exoskeletons

The company Healthy Suits will participate with the presentation ‘Exoskeletons: The Most Common Misconceptions’, delivered by Bernat Graupera Sanz. This session will critically analyse the ten most widespread myths regarding this technology, focusing on the unrealistic expectations that occasionally surround exoskeletons and the need to view them as just one tool within a comprehensive prevention strategy.

Exoskeletons for All Work Environments

ErgoSanté will offer the presentation ‘Exoskeletons at Work: For Whom and Why’, led by Lucie Blanchard, exoskeleton advisor at Hapo. She will demonstrate how these devices are not reserved solely for large heavy industries or ‘factories of the future’, but can be an accessible solution for employees, artisans, Occupational Risk Prevention (ORP) managers, HR departments and SMEs, contributing to the reduction of physical fatigue and the protection of joints in demanding jobs.

Practical Implementation in SMEs

Representing Iruña - Biosafety, Diego Arbea, the company's CSO, will deliver the presentation ‘How to Correctly Implement Exoskeletons in an SME?’, addressing the key aspects of a successful rollout: selecting the appropriate equipment for each role, worker training, determining the real benefits of the devices and clarifying myths and false beliefs.

The Great Challenge: User Acceptance

The programme concludes with the presentation ‘Acceptance of Exoskeletons: The Great Challenge’, given by Israel Benavides, an expert in occupational exoskeletons. Drawing on more than ten years of experience, this session will analyse the status of the use of these devices, existing opportunities, the main impediments to their adoption and the keys to achieving greater acceptance and implantation in the work environment.

With this programme, SICUR’s EXO CORNER establishes itself as a reference meeting point for professionals interested in ergonomics, innovation and the improvement of working conditions, providing a realistic vision – based on scientific evidence and practical experience – of the role of exoskeletons in the prevention of occupational risks.
