SICUR 2020, February 27 and 28, 2020

The participation of 706 exhibitors, 2,016 companies, and the visit of 42,838 professionals make SICUR 2020 one of the great business catalysts in the security sector

The recent edition of SICUR 2020 once again confirmed its role as the driving force behind the integrated security sector and its ability to attract visitors. From 25th to 28th February, 706 exhibitors and 2,016 participating companies were at Feria de Madrid, bringing together 42,838 trade visitors. In this way, the International Security Fair, organised by IFEMA, once again became one of the great business catalysts for an industry that needs to keep up to date to successfully face the significant challenges in technology, design and innovation in the world of security.

Over the four days of the Fair, SICUR was the venue for dynamic trade activity that made it a showcase for the latest innovations, equipment and solutions for the risk prevention and the protection of goods and people in all areas: Security, Defence, Cybersecurity, Workplace Security, and Fire & Emergency Protection.

The Fair was also the focus for the interest of security sector trade visitors from across Spain. Many visitors (54.6%) came from outside Madrid, which shows the Fair’s wide geographical scope. The regions from which most visitors came were Catalonia, Andalusia and Valencia.

SICUR also had a large number of international visitors from 81 countries, 8.3% of the total. Many of these visitors were from other European countries, especially Portugal, the United Kingdom and Germany, as well as Latin America and North Africa.

SICUR 2020 also responded to the sector’s need to keep up to date and adapt to new trends and requirements with a series of new features at this edition which were very well received by visitors.

SICUR RESILIENCIA (resilience), organised in collaboration with PESI (Spanish Technology Platform on Industrial Safety), offered a busy conference agenda around the Resilience for Companies and Organisations that requires integrated management of different perspectives of security and risk. The SICUR START-UPS platform aimed to provide support and increased visibility for five new projects and entrepreneurial companies aimed at the security market.

Also, in line with the new challenges facing the sector, cybersecurity played a major role at SICUR. The SICUR CYBER space was the place to analyse and discuss regulations, lines of action, gap management, risks to people’s privacy and anonymous networks, among many other topics.

The new SICUR MUNDO HACKER event attracted about 1,500 attendees and aroused lively interest among an audience of all ages, especially the youngest. There were demonstrations to show the critical role of cybersecurity as a fundamental part of comprehensive security in today’s economy and society.

This edition of the SICUR INNOVATION GALLERY highlighted the vital contribution of research and development to the security sector. At this edition of SICUR, it showcased 33 leading-edge projects that show the latest advances by companies in the security field. These are leading the way for the sector with their high level of innovation in design and technology in the areas of Occupational Safety, Security, and Fire and Emergency Prevention.

SICUR FORUM was also very popular. There were over 50 sessions that brought together 2,700 professionals to discuss and analyse current issues in the sector with the participation of leading experts from all fields involved in the security sector. SICUR continued its tradition of active involvement by security and emergency organisations with the Madrid Fire Department and Madrid SAMUR-Civil Protection, which gave a series of demonstrations and workshops, and demonstrations by the Ertzaintza Dog Unit.

In parallel with SICUR, the second edition of SMART DOORS, the International Doors and Automation Show, was held in Hall 6. This was another important attraction for security professionals, as the Fair brought together the latest in fire doors, as well as innovations in automatic doors in general, with key technology solutions for the physical security of domestic and industrial premises.
