SICUR 2026 announces the new Technologies for Public Security Conference
It will be held on Thursday 26 February at the North Convention Centre of IFEMA MADRID, to address the regulatory, operational and ethical issues of implementing new security technologies.
SICUR 2026, the International Security Exhibition which will take place from 24 to 27 February at IFEMA MADRID, announces the launch of the new 'Technologies for Public Security' Conference, organized in collaboration with the Technologies for Defense and Security Circle Foundation. It is scheduled for Thursday, 26 February in Hall N-101 of the IFEMA MADRID North Convention Center.
The rapid incorporation of technologies such as smart video surveillance, drones, AI, predictive analytics, biometric systems, citizen warning apps, 5G communications, smart sensors and tracking devices is profoundly transforming prevention, response, and coordination models in the field of security. However, this technological advancement also poses regulatory, operational and ethical challenges that require rigorous, multidisciplinary analysis.
The first institutional round table will begin at 12:00 hours with the participation of : Santiago Maroto Domínguez, Principal Commissioner and head of the Central Unit for Technological Support within the Operations and Digital Transformation Division of the National Police; Francisco Almansa Aguilar, Brigadier General and Head of the Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity Command of the Civil Guard; Andrés Ruiz Vázquez, Deputy Director General for Digital Security at the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service; and Manuel Jesús Izquierdo Bernal, Director of the Security Technology Center (CETSE) and Deputy Director General of Information and Communications Systems for Security at the State Secretariat for Security (Ministry of the Interior).
Following an open debate and a networking break, the conference will continue at 15:30 hours with a second-round table which, moderated by Silvia Gamo Perucha, Director General of the Foundation Circle of Technologies for Defense and Security, will bring together experts from the research sector - including CSIC and ITEFI - and the technology industry.
The conference will conclude with a debate session at 17:00 hours, consolidating this event as a key space for the exchange of knowledge and the construction of solutions that allow for advancement towards safer, more efficient and ethically responsible environments.
This conference, which joins the extensive technical agenda of SICUR 2026 - alongside FORO SICUR, SICUR CYBER, EXO CORNER, the Brokerage Event and ASEPAL's SPEAKER'S CORNER - reinforces the Exhibition's role as a reference forum for strategic security analysis, promoting dialogue between public administrations, security forces, the scientific community and the technology sector.
