MADHORROR will turn Madrid into the ultimate horror universe this Halloween
From 30 October to 2 November, IFEMA MADRID will be the ultimate meeting place for horror, fantasy, and Halloween culture fans
What do Freddy Krueger, the little girl from The Exorcist, the xenomorphs from Aliens, Álex de la Iglesia, and some of the most spectacular horror attractions have in common? You’ll find the answer at MADHORROR, the magnificent international festival that celebrates horror, dark fantasy, and Halloween culture, which will happen for the first time at IFEMA MADRID from 30 October to 2 November.
It is not every day that you can visit a venue knowing that, just a few metres away, you will find Robert Englund, the actor who portrayed Freddy Krueger; Linda Blair, a timeless horror icon thanks to The Exorcist; and Malcolm McDowell, the unforgettable star of A Clockwork Orange. And how often do you have the opportunity to see the processes behind some of the creatures, make-up, and special effects that have shaped films by directors such as Guillermo del Toro, Álex de la Iglesia, and Juan Antonio Bayona.
MADHORROR is more than a spectacle. It is also an experience.
Visitors can dive into immersive experiences designed to test their nerves, make their way through tunnels inspired by Japanese horror, discover exhibitions dedicated to genre icons, and enjoy some of the most outstanding films from international fantasy cinema.
The MADHORROR film festival will be a major highlight of the programme. The first confirmed films - from Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia - have been selected following their screenings at leading international festivals such as Cannes, SXSW, and the Berlinale, underpinning the event’s commitment to bringing some of the most significant offerings in contemporary fantasy and horror cinema to Madrid.
In addition, the content already announced includes exhibitions such as “40 Years of Aliens”, the exhibition featuring Chicho Ibáñez Serrador and a journey through the 35-year history of DDT Special Effects, responsible for some of the most memorable creatures, make-up and effects in Spanish and international cinema.
Coinciding with Halloween, MADHORROR will turn Madrid into the capital of horror for four days. A unique gathering for fans of fantasy cinema, for those who grew up with the genre’s classics, and for anyone looking to enjoy a different experience.
The answer will come from 30 October to 2 November at IFEMA MADRID. Four days to meet genre legends, discover the finest international fantasy cinema, explore unique exhibitions, and find out why MADHORROR is on track to become Spain’s leading horror event.
