IFEMA MADRID will launch EXPOINMED in 2027, International Medical Innovation and Healthcare Technology Fair
It will be held at the Recinto Ferial from 15 to 17 June 2027.
In collaboration with Medicina Responsable (Responsible Medicine), the inaugural edition will drive the evolution of the healthcare industry by bringing together companies across the sector through technological innovation, knowledge sharing, and new models of care.
IFEMA MADRID is strengthening its strategy of identifying high-potential sectors and launching highly specialised trade fairs, while consolidating its commitment to the health and social care sector by launching EXPOINMED, a new fair dedicated to medical innovation and healthcare technology. This new international forum will hold its first edition from 15 to 17 June 2027, in collaboration with Medicina Responsable, a specialised reference medium.
EXPOINMED was conceived in a context of growth, transformation, and investment in the MedTech and healthcare industries, which are already firmly established as strategic pillars of the global economy. Spain, a European leader in healthcare and a natural gateway to the Ibero-American market, has hitherto lacked a trade fair of a calibre commensurate with its health system. EXPOINMED therefore meets the need to create a high-level professional forum that brings together all stakeholders in the healthcare system — industry, professionals, managers, institutions and patients — to address today’s key challenges: innovation, sustainability, public–private collaboration and the humanisation of medicine.
A growing sector that demands new meeting spaces
The Spanish healthcare sector is undergoing sustained growth and dynamism. According to the most recent data, total healthcare expenditure in Spain stands at around 9.5% of GDP, reaching €138 billion and placing the country among the leading groups in Europe, alongside Germany, France and Italy. In addition, Spain was recognised in 2025 as the most active country in clinical research in the European Union, maintaining its leadership in both the number of authorised trials and the diversity of therapeutic areas, confirming the stability and strength of the Spanish regulatory system.
This context of expansion, combined with the acceleration of digitalisation, the application of artificial intelligence to health, and an ageing population, is generating a growing need for spaces for knowledge exchange, relationship-building, and business development.
EXPOINMED: a platform for innovation, connection and influence
EXPOINMED has been created to become a benchmark meeting point for the healthcare sector, offering a proposition that combines an exhibition area, high-value strategic content and dedicated networking spaces. Over three days, it will bring together medical equipment and devices, medical and surgical robotics, imaging and diagnostic technologies, laboratory and pharmaceutical solutions, materials for healthcare activities, digital health technologies and solutions, patient treatment and monitoring systems, healthcare services, MedTech start-ups and organisations working in the health sector.
The first International Congress EXPOINMED will be held to foster high-level dialogue aimed at shaping the future of the healthcare system. Clinicians, innovators, managers, and regulators will analyse and anticipate the challenges of contemporary medicine, addressing key issues such as the measurement of health outcomes and clinical value, the role of AI under ethical governance principles, the evolution towards more efficient and digitalised hospitals, the implementation of integrated care models, responsible access to innovation, and the growing importance of humanisation and patient experience.
The project is underpinned by IFEMA MADRID’s capacity as one of Europe’s leading trade fair operators — with more than 70 fairs and congresses in 2026 and a 36% share of Spain’s international events market — to create business and influence platforms in key sectors. In addition, collaboration with Medicina Responsable brings distinctive value in health communication, sector expertise and connectivity.

The slogan for this event will be ‘Driving medicine and connecting innovation. Humanising Health', since IFEMA MADRID and Medicina Responsable are promoting a project that addresses the current challenges of the healthcare system and aims to establish itself as an essential event for healthcare professionals, helping to define the future of the sector from Madrid.
