ArtsLibris Barcelona @ARCOmadrid
ArtsLibris – International Fair of Artists’ Books and Contemporary Editions in Barcelona- participates for three consecutive years now at ARCOmadrid, thus renovating the strategic collaboration between the two fairs with the aim of disseminating the publication of contemporary artist´s books.
ArtsLibris is a meeting point and a platform that works for publishers and artists to be present in the international circuit, widening the publishing market, and sharing interests with related sectors such as Contemporary Art.
During the past eight editions in Barcelona -and with the present third edition at ARCOmadrid- ArtsLibris has become well established as the pioneer fair for the dissemination and commercialization of the publishing sector specialized in artist’s books, contemporary bibliophily, and photobooks in Spain. The international scope of ArtisLibris is especially visible through the presence of Latin American publishing houses. In 2017, for the first time, ArtisLibris participated at the Guadalajara International Book Fair, in Mexico.
ArtsLibris increases the number of international publishers at ARCOmadrid with a larger space and a program of presentations and book signing sessions with artists, curators, and publishers.
Besides the director and founder Rocío Santa Cruz (Publisher and Gallerist), the advising committee of ArtsLibris is formed by Glòria Picazo, art critic, curator, and specialist in artists’ books, and by general coordinator Pedro Torres, curator and culture manager, assisted by Blanca del Río, curator.
After ARCOmadrid, ArtsLibris will celebrate its ninth edition at Arts Santa Mònica Center in Barcelona from April the 21st to the 23rd, 2018. This event will present artists’ books, photobooks, contemporary bibliophily, art, photography, and design publications, as well as a heterogeneous wide range of printed matter made by artists during the 20th and 21st centuries.
Besides publications and exhibitions, the fair ArtsLibris Barcelona will present a wide program of activities such as: the celebration of the 5th International Publishing and Collecting Symposium; the Speaker’s Corner, a dynamic space for discussion, diffusion, and exchange of experiences for the participant publishers; workshops related to the publishing world; the ArtsLibris-Banco Sabadell Foundation prize; the launch of the new Serie AL publication, an artists’ book series presenting a book by artist Wilfredo Prieto this year; and finally introducing guest projects and the exhibition Improbable Libraries, curated by Glòria Picazo.
