Expo Guadalajara aims to position SICON MX among the world’s leading construction exhibitions

Guadalajara, Jalisco. With the International Construction Week Mexico (SICON MX), Expo Guadalajara aims to position this, the third event organized in-house by the institution among the five most important construction exhibitions in the world.

José Martínez, Manager of Events at Expo Guadalajara, explained that SICON Mexico will take place from April 14 to 16, 2026, in partnership with IFEMA Madrid, which has organized 30 editions of the International Construction Week in Spain’s capital, establishing itself as a leading global professional trade fair for construction products and services.

“The goal is to bring together the construction industry across its three main stages: structural construction, building systems & installations, and architectural finishes— covering all aspects of the sector. We also have the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) as a strategic partner; with over 10,000 affiliated companies nationwide, they will bring high-quality exhibitors,” Martínez emphasized.

He noted that SICON MX will mark a milestone in Guadalajara, where the construction industry is nationally recognized both for public and private infrastructure investment and for its employment impact. The city has long been home to a major construction exhibition that had also gained significant recognition over the years.

“Part of what IFEMA Madrid brings — beyond all the expertise from its previous editions — is its global network of over 40 delegations. We have already selected around 15 delegations interested in bringing exhibitors to Mexico, including Italy, Portugal, Germany, Spain, and Turkey, all seeking a presence in the Mexican market,” Martínez added.

He explained that at least 20% of participating companies at the International Construction Week Mexico will be international. The event expects 200 brands and approximately 5,000 professional visitors.

“Globally, there are four exhibitions of this scale in the sector: one in Las Vegas, one in Germany, one in Hong Kong, and IFEMA in Madrid. Now we want Mexico to complete this top five,” said Juan Manuel Chávez Ochoa, President of CMIC’s Jalisco delegation.

“This partnership arises from the need to bring together all stakeholders in the construction ecosystem: suppliers, contractors, and now the technical side, to discuss and debate new technologies, materials, and processes. It’s aimed at all industry stakeholders,” the industry leader emphasized.

Boosting Economic Impact through In-House Events

José Martínez highlighted that SICON MX will be Expo Guadalajara’s third in-house event, following the Jalisco Industrial Fair (FEINJAL) and México Hospitality Expo, aiming to generate greater economic impact for the city.

“Estimates from European venues indicate that for every euro they earn from renting a space, they earn two more by organizing the event themselves,” he noted.
