There are great expectations for restarting investments on Pernambuco roads, as well as for the project of a new railway in the state, known as Transnordestina. The railway forms part of the Growth Acceleration Plan (PAC) of the Federal Government. The Suape connection, also a priority for the Pernambuco government, will allow to unite the coast with the interior of Pernambuco.
Today by rail or tomorrow by railway, we want to reach new markets, such as the cereal region of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahía, known as MATOPIBA, as well as the prosperous fruit growing area of the São Francisco valley, in Pernambuco.
The actions, however, are not limited to means of transport. We repeat the tradition and anticipate what is to come.
We will have more advanced infrastructure and competitive rates with the investments that are being made to modernize the port and the arrival of a new container terminal of a global giant in the sector. Only in the first phase of the project will be invested 1,600 million reais.
For its part, the inner port will have 700 more meters of mooring for the new muelles 6 and 7, whose works will begin in 2025. Due to this expansion, we are also enabling rental zones along the perimeter of the organized port.
The expectation of the Port of Suape with this and other investments is to double global cargo handling in the next few years.
One of the most important interventions completed is the expansion of the exterior port, which increases the depth from 16 to 20 meters. We can also project that, by mid-2025, the inner port area will expand to a depth of 16.2 meters.
In total, more than 360 million reais were invested in the depth dredger alone, taking Suape to another level of port infrastructure.
This structure will allow the port to receive the largest ships we have, of the APL type, up to 366 meters wide. True giants of the sea, they can enter and leave the port with their maximum load capacity.
