Fruit Attraction: CNA assesses the potential for expanding Brazilian fruit exports.
Brazil has the potential to go beyond traditional fruits, seeking to open markets for typical items such as umbu and jackfruit.
The Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA) discussed, this Wednesday (26), global trends in the fruit market, during the Fruit Attraction fair, held in São Paulo. The technical advisor of the CNA's National Fruit Growing Commission, Letícia Barony, addressed the factors that influence the world fruit market and the opportunities for Brazil in the sector.
"The country has a diverse range of products. We have the potential to expand the market for fruits that have already gained popularity for their quality and flavor, such as mangoes and grapes. But also to conquer the market with typically Brazilian fruits that pique the curiosity of other countries, such as the umbu and jackfruit," he said.
According to Letícia, the sector is seeking to diversify its export product portfolio and destination markets in order to mitigate market risks. "Asia, for example, is a great opportunity."
During the panel, the advisor also commented on ongoing trade agreements that impact Brazilian fruit farming. She highlighted that producers who seek professionalization to access domestic and international markets are able to mitigate risks in commercialization.
"The global market brings greater security and price stability, enabling investment and improvement in the quality and efficiency of the activity. This also benefits the national consumer," he stated.
The panel included Jorge de Souza, Technical and Project Manager at Abrafrutas, and Victor Ferreira, Technical Analyst at the Competitiveness Unit of the Agribusiness Center of Sebrae.
