COP: Anchored in best practices, Brazilian fruit farming is an example of a low-carbon activity.

Discussed at the Climate Conference, the sector's sustainability agenda will be examined in detail at the 2026 edition of Fruit Attraction São Paulo.

DWith its high technological standards, Brazilian fruit farming, particularly that developed in the São Francisco Valley, has established itself as a global model of success that integrates productivity, diversity, quality, income and job creation, and sustainability. The sector operates based on good agricultural practices that reduce emissions, sequester carbon, and increase the climate resilience of crops.

“It is the advancement of agroforestry systems, the increasing use of renewable sources, as well as raw materials for the production of clean energy, the economy of inputs and natural resources, the restoration of degraded soils, and so on,” highlights Zacarias Ribeiro, ESG consultant at Abrafrutas – a master supporter of Fruit Attraction São Paulo 2026 – who adds: “the fruit production chain has enormous potential for an ever-greater integration between production and forests – not only in the Semi-Arid region, combining native Caatinga species with tropical fruit trees – but also in other regions of the country.”

In this plan, the rural producer has short- and medium-term financial resources from the sale of fruit production and, further down the line, can also profit from carbon credit mechanisms based on the forestry component, in a real example of sustainability that encompasses socioeconomic and environmental spheres.

On the rise due to COP 30, the topic will also be examined in detail at Fruit Attraction São Paulo 2026, which takes place from March 24th to 26th at São Paulo Expo, in the city of São Paulo. Organized by IFEMA MADRID and Fiera Milano Brasil, the fair reaches its 3rd edition as the main event in the fruit and vegetable production chain of the southern hemisphere, reaffirming its role as a global platform for Brazilian fruit growing. In 2026, Fruit Attraction São Paulo will once again bring together producers, exporters, national and international buyers, suppliers, distributors, authorities, entities, and other agents in the sector. This year, the event received more than 16,300 visitors, 400 exhibiting brands from more than 50 countries, generated more than 1,500 meetings in the business round, and occupied 15,000 m² of exhibition space, a growth of 661% compared to 2024.

For the next edition, the exhibition area will be expanded, encompassing the most diverse links in the sector – inputs, agricultural machinery, post-harvest equipment, logistics, packaging, digital technologies, cold chain [transport and storage], and much more. With the participation of the main fruit-producing states in Brazil, the Fruit Attraction São Paulo 2026 program will also feature new attractions in addition to the already traditional ones. Fruit Forum – content congress –, the Cooking Show, a space for gastronomic experiences and a Business Round: a matchmaking process involving meetings with buyers invited by the event, dedicated to generating new opportunities.
