IFEMA, along with its Medellín partner, Plaza Mayor, has decided to postpone the second edition of TRAFIC Latin America until September 2020 (from the 15 to 17). The Trade Fair will again be held in the Colombian city of Medellín. The Trade Fair, a reference point for the main innovations regarding mobility and sustainability, brought together in its last edition a total of 2,779 attendees and resulted in the signing of an agreement between the Government of Brazil and the Mayor’s Office of Medellín to exchange knowledge on mobility with social inclusion.
Given that the America's Cup soccer Championship will be held in June and July in Medellín and Argentina, it made it difficult to hold TRAFIC Latin America on the initially planned date, therefore the organisers decided to postpone the dates for the upcoming trade fair.
Once again TRAFIC Latin America will be held in Colombia, in the city of Medellín, as it provides a wide range of opportunities. Colombia is one of the countries with the highest economic stability in South America. In the last five years the Colombian economy grew by 4.8% on average. The Colombian GDP grew above the average estimated for Latin America and the Caribbean, by 4.6% compared to the 1.3% throughout the region. The country’s middle class is in full growth, as in 2018 it represented 30% of the Colombian population, while it is expected to be 37% of the population in 2020 and 46% by 2025.
Medellín is also a city that in recent years has proven to the world its capability for transformation, its drive and commitment to modernity and the strength to achieve the goals that it sets itself. The transformation the city has undergone is without a doubt cultural and social, but also physical, from urban transformation to the quality of everyday life of its inhabitants. This urban development has a lot to do with mobility, by providing the citizens with suitable conditions to be able to enjoy a resilient city.
Lastly, there will also be a Mobility Forum within the program of Technical Conferences that will be held alongside the commercial exhibition, which is already being worked on.
